Like others, I too am a long standing member and pay a reduced rate monthly (less than what the gold membership is). Unfortunately Jagex implies that if we purchase a gold membership we will NOT go back to our original rate - Jagex have just offered us the chance to purchase a further 3 or 6 months after the 12 months expire so if we long timers purchase the gold rate then we will pay more after those 12 months if we choose to continue.

In most business models it is regarded that having people on direct debit is one of the best forms of guaranteed payment - as the majority of people rarely cancel their payments and just leave them ongoing. So I'm confused with Jagex's decision not to give those people on direct debit the same benefits as this gold membership - they are risking a high number of people not renewing after the 12 months as people will have to physically renew unlike now where its just ongoing.

I'm still unsure as to whether to purchase the 12 months, the benefits seem good but I do feel that as a long term member its a shame I will end up paying more. There again if I'm not happy with the game in 12 months I just wont renew it unlike now where I probably would have just left it running.

I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION NOW ANSWERED IN THE ***!!

Because I have a direct debit opened on my Runescape membership, if I purchase gold membership, will that direct debit continue to take out money each month? Or will it be frozen for the duration of 12 months?

Ok this is how i think they are doing this, if you pay the new price of 7.95 a month you will get a discount of 15.00 if you pay by the year gold membership, and if your a loyal player and pay 5.00 a month your gold member ship will cost you an extra 15.00 a year. See where this is going, loyal members will be paying the newer players discount, thus making up the loss jagex will be taking so this way they lose nothing, so its a win win situation for them and a lose lose situation for the loyal players that only pay 5 a month

Jagex, I'm from Brazil and I don't have an international credit card, so I can't buy it by Paypal either, if I buy the 12 Months package from levelup (The company that owns RS in Brazil, will I get all these benefits? If so, I'm buying it, if not, well... That's a shame...
