Fact is they did the opposite of trying, they added new tiers of alchables. The Christmas event is like a vending machine that is broken and all the goodies fell out.
Endless piles of money bags along with small stars, lamps and turkey legs. There are so many that people are asking for an auto collect feature because collecting all that money slows down our profit making.
Good points. I didn't even think of that. The tax must be some kind of dumb experiment to see how much nonsense we'll tolerate.

Cash bags from Treasure Hunter (and I assume by extension, holiday events) only add up to 4.22% of the total influx of GP coming into the game. This is 10% of the positive delta of GP coming into the game, hence completely removing cash bags will barely make a dent in the situation.
Whilst they may be adding more alchable items into the game, this is not nearly on the same scale as the number of alchables players can obtain from skills; whether it be from slayer drops or made from resources, such as bolts and staves.
Instead of looking at the influx of alchable items, the focus should probably shift to how quickly those items can be alched. If the rate of alching machines was lowered, there'd be less influx of GP per day. Whilst it wouldn't fix the problem in one hit, it would certainly help.
It's not about removing it, they are adding extra GP into the mix. The new alchs are way higher than the 40k rune items. I haven't even alched the new green ones yet, waiting for a specific amount to impress myself.
IF someone was wondering why this has happened at the same time they claim to be reducing gold, you might argue that it was done to inflate the numbers to gain support for the tax.
All that evil GP sneaking into the game and ruining it! Something must be done!
It's not even clear what the comparison marker for inflation actually is. It can't be bonds because the devs keep flooding the market with promos. The price is not natural.
Seren Godbow? Seems more likely, and quite bizarre considering it is tied to the absolute worst content in the game and players actually destroy them to buff other weapons which I also cannot afford.

You removed my 1000th forum post.... good work, it was just a joke. Don't be so obtuse.
