Signed it, sadly I don’t expect much but I’ll be damned if I don’t at least give it a try.
Honestly I've been pleasantly surprised at how many protest threads have popped up, it's nice to see.
Yeah, it's hopeful Jagex will see them and reconsider.
I really don’t see the rationale in shutting the forums down. Sure they aren’t getting a lot of use, but the upkeep cost and server space must be minuscule.

I believe it'll be more to do with the fact that the new website will be based on a more modern code which will be incompatible with what the forums currently run on.
If this is the case, they would rather use off-site alternatives than having to create a new forums area on the updated website.
Personally, I would rather they pay someone to create this new forum than to patch the graphics in-game. However, I understand graphical improvements can't be ignored either. I guess Jagex simply can't afford to hire enough staff to cover all bases now.

That's the bit I don't get, the forums could be left as is, they need (and currently receive) no JMod resources, running costs must be pretty close to zero.

I guess it’s what A Cole said, they’re migrating to a new website and don’t want to bother coding the forums to work on the new site. I saw on Reddit that internet archivists are at work to catalogue everything, and maybe even saving the code to recreate the forums. It’s all over my head but hopefully something comes of their efforts.
I remember, aside from who were mentioned on the first page:
Agent Ducky, Old Timer, Cuvb(never figured who's alt it was), Sir Steve P, Bromato, Zand, Bambuknight, Immortalized, Kimzi Caky, Sookie Lala, King/Shor AST, Stellaboots, Stoat King, Tweek, Alex 3412(?), Telcis, and Siege 237(dragon full helm guy).
That's about all I can remember who weren't mentioned.
Maybe we can all go for one final postcount boost at the dawn of the final day.

Damn, a lot of those were legends. Sookie was the keeper of the unofficial chat thread right?

Yeah, she was.
Managed to remember a few more:
Krista, Zeldakitten, Soren, Social/I Like Beef, Morte(Varrock Herald rants), Penguin O_o, Leahleahn and Arbitraitor.
There's also another older Ranter, but he changed his name a few times. One of them was Simply Peter.

This is what Jagex is forcing us to do by dropping forums: UC Irvine community bombarded with gory videos after online groups hacked
An estimated 3,000 users of Discord groups affiliated with UCI are believed to have been exposed to the disturbing content.
The cyberattack happened Jan. 9, 2024. It flooded the groups with pop-ups and caused academic disruption.
