I'd really like to see this idea implemented,we already have the letters on log in from jagex notifying us of membership renewals,key purchases etc so it would be nice to see some friend envelopes as well, especially from old friends who might be picking up the game again due to steam.When a friend coming back see your name isnt gibberish they know you still play but arent logged in they could send a message to say hi and figure out a time to play together and catch up. Alternately it could be used for simple things like im ill or overworked currently so wont be on much or at all and to share bits of advice on new releases and just keep friendships going in general


I know this system is outdated now with many gamers using discord or their own forums or facebook groups and what not but i think it would be a nice touch and it would bring some life back into the forums which at the time of writing this has 6 active users online with 141,947 people playing right now. humble drone for the Ivy clan

the thread should still be on one of the pages. i just cant find it to get the actual quote unfortunately.

but the j mod did say they want to do stuff with forums improving it etc. they just cant due to other projects

10 years ago I was on board with this idea. Nowadays between Discord, Twitch and Steam support I don't think it is worth spending time reinventing the wheel. I would rather see development time used in site-wide mobile support and further integration with these services. Low on bank space? Click here .

Not everyone is comfortable using a 3rd party chatting service, just like myself.
