Well said. I do agree that two factor authentication has added an extra step to posting, and accessing the forums.

There should be a 'Click here to remember this device for 7-28 days' link.

I haven't had any issues at all whatsoever. I have always logged into the game first. When I do that, I either click on my Message Centre or a news post article. That'll log me in directly without having to authenticate.

just login from the lobby (clicking on pretty much anything that will transfer you to the rs website)

Cool to see that a few people log in to the site via the game.

I go via Solomon's Store (under Extras) in the game. Maybe will try from lobby in future.

I tried the lobby thing and it seems to work. I think this really says a lot about how unintuitive the site is in how to use make the best use of it. The forums aren't the only part of it in dire need of an update.

Another thing relevant to the log in difficulties killing the forums is how apparently the loss of J-Mod engagement was because they couldn't be bothered to log into the forums even before Jagex accounts. That's a big part of what killed the forums too, since loss of their involvement was a part of what drove players to places they'd have an easier time being heard.

Nailed it. I stopped posting on the forums partly because Jagex has been driving me away from the game over the past few years, but also because every time I tried logging in using a VPN, it would force me to disable the VPN, then go through all those steps, just to log in to read some of the forums or reply to any of my threads.

Jagex killed the forums. That's all they're good for these days: destroying things.

I agree, i have refrained from posting many times simply because i couldn't be bothered to grab my phone from the other end of the room, just to type my auth code lol.

KeePass! OSRS was the best use of KeePass I've had as it auto-typed my randomized password into the client and logged me right in, before Jagex Accounts. It also has 2FA support. I basically hit a keyboard shortcut, click RS in my account list, Ctrl + T, and I have 2FA. The email and pass were covered by browser sync for forum log-in.

I wouldn't use 2FA at all if I had to grab my phone for it each time. I do have the option of doing that though since KeePass is cross-platform.

Edit: I've closed my browser, rebooted multiple times, and my session was saved to edit forum posts still. I'm on a fresh Firefox install. Where's the log-in difficulty? I'm used to having to re-login every time since my usual set-up wipes cookies on browser close and can understand that being annoying, but surely other browsers keep sessions?
