I initially started using forums to find good clans (which later got turned into friend chats) because it was too difficult for me to identify good ones in-game. I really found good clans back then which I stayed with for several years. That way forums proved to be extremely helpful and later on, I found forum games very interesting and decided to focus more on that section of the forums. That's how finally forums found their place in my heart <3
This post in this thread now. My interest is mostly nostalgia, used to browse lots of forums when I was younger. Now a lot has moved over to Discord but was happy to see Runescape still has its old fashioned forum system! Who knows if I'll be a recurring user but so far I'm enjoying the active community and wealth of info in every corner I look.
First I can remember, at least a decade ago, was getting frustrated about some droprates on low-level items, then getting flamed at for not being hardcore enough.
I mean, with the droprates on some of those things (mostly low level slayer drops) they would become irrelevant by the time you get them.

I can't imagine a time when anything fletched that wasn't ammo was actually worth money

most people just alched all the bows i made not sure if it was a profit or a loss for them though tbh it was a win/win though since fletch was my first 99 and i made money back in the day for it
Back when the RuneScape experience felt FREE, you would roam the lands and everything was active. You could do different minigames, far and wide, slay any monster, defeat bosses, chat almost anywhere with different people, skilling was more appreciated, and the game had purpose. You actually felt FREE.
and then I found the forums and it added to that experience with a 10x multiplier. It was truly a blossoming experience and some of the best times I've ever had in my life.

I still get that experience by not caring about the meta and doing things to do them.
However it's extremely difficult to find a clan that shares that belief so most group content like fishing trawler is off limits now.
