On the now-hidden Q&A with LMods thread, people were asking what sort of qualifications/experience the existing LMods had. The responses were at first very cagey. When pushed it transpired that they were not required to have any formal qualifications in community management .... or really any other specific thing at all. I seem to recall that one of them had never even played Runescape before.
The selection criteria remained a mystery.
It wouldn't surprise me greatly if our speculations here were met with a request to shut up and mind our own business
@FiFi La Frou, thanks friend, yes I believe you are correct. My bad, lol, I blame the 3 months of over 90% humidity, it is slowing frying my brain. The problem is that I did not find any company that Jagex is partnered with named 'Keywords'.
There is also no mention anywhere that Jagex has outsourced or subcontracted out any of its player support or localisation services either. It is weird, at least to me, since Jagex toots their horn about how great they are in those specific areas that Jagex would be subcontracting out those very specific in-house services. This is new news for Jagex customers.
What I find interesting is in the latest news about Jagex & their new division Jagex Partners is that Jagex is offering those very services, customer support, localisation, community management, etc. to companies needing a third party developer, however the way the material is written implies that Jagex would be providing those services themselves not via a subcontractor.
Idk about you but as a customer of Jagex I would like to know a little bit more about this company besides a generic name in quotation.
Well, Winds, I have asked the question on the announcement thread by Cam. I'll be interested to read the response, assuming anyone bothers to give one.
Well the qualifications doesn't totally surprise me as CM is sort of used to get into the industry hence why practically if not every cm mod only sticks around a few years if that until they get a better job. so I wouldn't be surprised if having community management experience isn't essential. I suppose some people would argue that based on some CM mods dealing with the community it is safe to say they'd no experience at all
CS & CM jobs do appear to be advertised as entry level jobs. It is not uncommon for interns to placed in these positions either.
@FiFi La Frou, I saw that you did. Hopefully the answer to your question will be forthcoming.
I was thinking of sending an email off to a few gaming reporters I correspond with to see if they had any information about this company called 'Keywords' since I could't find out anything about that company, (hence why I was thinking that 'Keywords' surely had to be a person).
Now lets see if you, (yes, I just volunteered you as the designated W&F question asker), can find out what company the purple people from the now locked Moderation Team Introductions thread Qfc 254-255-556-65986108 are from. Are they from Keywords Studio the same place as the two folks Mod Cam mentions in his post or not?
