The Ninja team does primarily QoL updates They don't do graphics at all. There will be environmental updates to area when new content comes where they are. For instance, Dragnor Manor and the Falador entrance of the Dwarven Mine have been updated. Perhaps your or your wife just missed it.

Gielinor is huge and the Jagex graphics team is small. That's why they can't update all the areas at once. They are also updating graphics in OSRS too in case if you don't realize. There is also a HD graphics plugin in the OSRS Runelite 3PC. It is hard for your wife not to see the difference between the OSRS and Runelite HD graphics and not breaks the immersion for her. But different players have different preference, Jagex can't just attend to a small percentage of player's preference, regardless it is RS3 or OSRS.

Apoligies if what came across was to give it to the ninja team. that was not my suggestion, they are doing awesome work. :) This was just mainly speculation based off the previous info in the thread. I gusse im just one of those hopeful optimists :P .

I just figured that since they are hiring alot of artists, wouldnt it be cool to ahve a second team dedicated to just updating art assets and making things more coherent. And what if it wasnt announced, it could be like a scavanger hunt! Just a small blerb in the patch notes.

An area has been updated. Goto the fourms to discuss! That would have people looking all around the world. Awhile back i found out the way they place their models in the world and how they are loaded up. With the way the NEX engine loads them in, im assuming they are still using the same database method. If you'd like i can explain it, its very facinating and is one of the reasons why i still play this game. Breaking down mechanics and code without actually opening it up is very fun :)

There are different kinds of artists. The ones Jagex is hiring across the studio are mostly character artists and animators. They are more focused on the World Guardian and other NPCs like gods and NPCs as they are the company's original, distinctive and more marketable intellectual properties. Environmental assets like Everlight and Stormguard, are of course original quite iconic too, but the likes of Lumbridge, Varrock and Camelot Castles or Karamja palm trees and tribal huts are a dime 9000 dozens with almost not market values. It is just extremely bad idea for Jagex to specifically waste money on them.

will we get a year ahead to show us what's planned for 2022 or not ? since we havent had runefest for the last 2 years, just curious to know what to expect this year :)

Hopefully next month. osrs does plans yet rs3 doesn't pretty inconsistent

What we can infer without even having a Year Ahead:
- continuation of the Elder God Wars story line, probably at least 2 more updates that aren't bug fixes

- 4 dxp events

- several more yak tracks

- more ninja fixes

- some sort of fix to the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon bot abuse

and we won't need to get into the many other MTX promos they will do

As soon as McArthur Fortune allows them, or Carlyle Group steps in and seek control of the operation to minimize the "material impact". whichever comes first:

RS3 can't be "inconsistent" when they don't release any information yet. What I can tell is they certainly can't stage a "Summit", show us a "roadmap" and then delay everything to 2023 now. :)

Also keep in mind that Jagex has "over promised" in the past and had content that didn't get released (ie: bank rework, avatar updates) due to technical issues and it took longer to come out. Other times, they released teasers for stuff and it took YEARS to come out (ie: underwater boss which became The ambassador). Even then, there is content they teased and it NEVER came out.

To top that off, there are times that we did eventually get the content ... it just got delayed ...
Players took it that "But you promised it this month" ... and that fact that there were bugs or other issues delaying it a few weeks ... was not a factor to some in the community.

So, Jagex has gotten to the point that they've only been mentioning when:
- the content is about to release. might be a few weeks out, but the content really is ready for release

- the content might be mid-development, but it will go out. the Het's Oasis to replace the Duel Arena for example. it was still 2+ months out at the time it was was being worked on.

- the intent to release ... we just might not know what it will look like ... the Sophanem anti-botting "plan" for example. even Jagex is aware that it needs to be done. It won't often be huge , but it will certainly be done

I'll still be the first to mention that I'd like to see some roadmap for the year.

At least verifying a few of the big and intermediate pieces of content ... and not the stuff that we see annually.

I mean ... yeah ... a Spring/Easter event, a H'ween Event, an Xmas event ... but we have those almost every year.

If they were going to tease a "Summer Olympic Event" instead of a return of the Beach ... ok .... that'd be slightly noteworthy.

Thank You for letting Me voice a Concern,

They have released the bank rework and I believe the vast majority of RS3 players are very happy about it, especially with the the free bank presets. I don't think they promised anything more and there is nothing pending now.

Teaser of Ambassador? That was 2016 and it is 2022 now. What bosses did they tease and not released since 2019?

Avatar Rework is all along a multiple year project. They never promised to release it in one update, even if Mod Iroh stayed with Jagex.

Didn't RS3 just replaced Duel Arena as promised? I don't know what else can we expect from Jagex other than give us a date to get rid of OSRS Duel Arena.
