Flarefox means because in 1 picture you can apparently see him pm'ing a player lol. unless the pm is something fishy, i don't see what is wrong

The issue is I never pmed him. (I rarely pm anyone) Allowing images to be posted promotes this kind of behavior and its quite annoying.

I understand that this was meant to be a fun update towards the forums, but I'm not okay with it now. It's opened an avenue for people to post images of others 'impersonating' others. And yeah, I know Forum Help is for that, but this still opened an avenue for bad behavior on the forums. Can't support it.

I am a bit confused about your concern. Can you please expand on it?
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

i don't get how, and i don't get why you feel that'll be how people use it. If you don't trust an image you see, ignore it or report it. if you don't trust posting an image, then don't. If we were to censor everything people could possibly misuse, your life would suck, so why single this out?

I love people who can find ways to complain about gaining liberties. "More options and freedom, no thanks..."

The issue is forum images allows people to potentially post images that aren't real, which leads to conflict with any individuals associated.

Constructive criticism and complaining are two different things. In my post I acknowledged the good part that people would take away from this update, and I also stated the bad part. Why do we need pictures on the forums in the first place? It's not about me trusting images, it's about others using images for reasons they shouldn't be using them. This update to the forums just wasn't essential at all in my opinion.

For you this may be a "liberty", but it isn't that to everyone. It's all fun and games until someone misuses the image system in a wrongful way that involves you.

Flarefox, the entire world isn't about you :P

I'm sorry that you have these concerns, which I'm guessing must be founded (based on what Scouse said). However, it's very unusual for someone to actually try to impersonate someone, and while catfishing comes to mind, Runescape isn't a dating site anyway, nor would that be something that any mod has the authority to moderate.

If someone is photoshopping things to make it look like you said things you didn't, then you can report it on Forum Help. If someone is posting something that you said that you didn't want to be shared...then lesson learned, don't trust that person anymore.

15 million people are victims to identity theft each year. A good portion of it happens online. I'm not saying everyone will misuse this system, but it makes impersonating a lot easier to do.
I'm just using my example of how this is a bad idea. The issue is a user used the new image system to photoshop, and when the image is no longer visible, nothing was done about it. (Yes, after reporting to both Forum Help and the Review), so it's a pressing issue. Images across the forums is turning the forums into something it shouldn't turn into in my opinion.

Wait what?

The definition of 'impersonate' is to 'deceive'.

Are you implying that a moderator does not have the authority to moderate an image that has been posted in order to deceive the forum community?

In my opinion, the notion that a Fmod would not have the authority to moderate such an image is negated by simply reading the rules regarding posting images. Simply put, CoC; Images Posted Must Be Appropriate For These Forums; 4. Jagex reserves the right to delete any image which it deems inappropriate.

With that said, an image that has been intentionally posted to deceive the forum community would be deemed inappropriate & subjected to moderation.

In as far as it is 'very unusual for someone to actually try to impersonate someone' that is debatable. Like most venues that allow images of their users, end-users who post a 'stock' photo or of a 'celebrity' where they imply that the image is a 'selfie' of them, those images, do in fact end up subject to moderation as well.
