Often I have seen users making baiting and provocative comments like:
"I am ignoring you" for whatever excuses.
"Blah blah blah" and a 9,000 word wall of text and then say I am leaving this thread and won't respond to your <fill in your any kind of forum rule breaking>.
Can anybody, preferably CM and Fmods please advise why these kinds of comments not considered baiting?
To me, they seem like (1) comments directed at forum user(s) and thus violation of the Code of Conduct of Good Forumers, (2) quitting a thread or forum is not relevant and not constructive feedback to the thread therefore thread derailment, (3) telling other user about derailment is itself a derailment.
Please advise am I correct, and if so, should comments like this be considered baiting and reported and actioned in the forums? Otherwise, please advise tell us why not and what's the proper action to respond to such baiting/provocations?
To put it bluntly. Accusations of the sort are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and the context of the situation and the conversation are the most important factors in deciding whether or not to take action on a thread/posts.
There is no hard and fast rule for what constitutes "baiting" in any situation. It's an accusation that's extremely contextual, and is not necessarily a black and white situation like another FH report like a RWT link or spam would be.
Thank you CM Nick. I guess going forward, I'll just report the baiting. If FH doesn't consider it baiting then I will just respond with the same comment under the same context. Thanks for now.
