Telling someone you do not want their replies is the opposite of baiting.

IF someone ever said that to me I would certainly wonder if my behavior was to blame and I would work to correct that perception in the future.

What I would never do is threaten to behave in a manner I find objectionable just because I can.

Shouldn't you be doing it in FH or FMR if you have a problem with certain user(s)? Because you can? I really really really want to hear from Jmods and CM(s) if we really can do that outside FH and FMR.

Being the 'quotemaster' of The RuneScape Official Forums it doesn't escape my attention that you have made 'arguing' some kind of 'artform' in how to tip off other players in The RuneScape Official Forums just because they gave their opinion asked, not by you, asked by another forum-user.

Where do I find that '
rulebook
' of yours and where does Jagex/Jmods hide it on The RuneScape Official Website & Forums?
Is it '
approved
' by Jagex/JMods?

It is not my "rulebook". It is stickied and especially "the RSOF is not for discussions of users" rule has been in place for many many years. Unless Fmods and CM(s) tell us otherwise, I believe it is "approved" by Jagex/Jmods.

The first post of Forum Help V3 has excellent information regarding your concerns:

"Baiting Players - Posting in a manner that deliberately invites or provokes negative responses or personal attacks (trolling/baiting) and then reporting those attacks,
is considered a misuse of this thread
."

"Discussing other members of the Forum Community - This thread is not to be used as personal rants forum, nor is it to be used as a way to attack and blame other active members of the forums. Jagex staff members are not here to be a forum police force, and neither are the Forum Moderator Team."

"Forum Revenge - This is not the place for you to try and get revenge. You shouldn't be reporting players who have reported you, the forums should be an adult and civil place, so please don't misuse this."

"Reporting Trivial Matters -
This thread is not to be used as personal rants forum once again, ask yourself this: Has a Forum Rule been broken, or has it just simply annoyed you?
Forum Moderators will always take action when necessary - however take two minutes to think if it is worth your time commenting on this thread. If you feel it is - report it. We aren't trying to discourage you from reporting something if it desperately needs attention - but please, use your discretion."

If you think that someone's actions and/or posts are breaking the rules, then you are encouraged and more than welcome to alert the F-Mods of such instances. As mentioned above, the F-Mods will assess the case(s) at hand and taken any necessary action(s) if deemed correct within the scope of the rules and their guidelines.

If no action is taken, then that implies that the F-Mods didn't think a rule was infringed upon. Ignoring irrelevant "bait" or uncalled for situations may be useful in the long run and better overall.

Often I have seen users making baiting and provocative comments like:

"I am ignoring you" for whatever excuses.

"Blah blah blah" and a 9,000 word wall of text and then say I am leaving this thread and won't respond to your <fill in your any kind of forum rule breaking>.

Can anybody, preferably CM and Fmods please advise why these kinds of comments not considered baiting?

To me, they seem like (1) comments directed at forum user(s) and thus violation of the Code of Conduct of Good Forumers, (2) quitting a thread or forum is not relevant and not constructive feedback to the thread therefore thread derailment, (3) telling other user about derailment is itself a derailment.

Please advise am I correct, and if so, should comments like this be considered baiting and reported and actioned in the forums? Otherwise, please advise tell us why not and what's the proper action to respond to such baiting/provocations?

To put it bluntly. Accusations of the sort are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and the context of the situation and the conversation are the most important factors in deciding whether or not to take action on a thread/posts.

There is no hard and fast rule for what constitutes "baiting" in any situation. It's an accusation that's extremely contextual, and is not necessarily a black and white situation like another FH report like a RWT link or spam would be.

@Mrs Ana

Thank you. I certainly have read what you quoted and I hope the other users read where to post their complaints about users too.

However, my question is what is considered BAITING. I am not reporting anybody for baiting. This thread is similar to other threads such as "Are 3PC against the rule?", "Is Alt1 allowed", "Is staking items against the rules?" etc. It is not meant for discussion of any specific users (myself included) or a reporting thread.
