This forum is built on webscript, a dying in-house language that Jagex hasnt supported since 2013 as they transitioned to freemarker java templating, and now to modern full stack services.

This system's time was limited after they stopped supporting it and being able to fix stuff, or add new features, easily.

It will hurt clans though not having a replacement. They could've migrated to Discourse or something and have the basics there and let the community continue to function, even if JMods dont use it.

Other groups have done that before....there's no need to just wipe without replacement.

Oh well, its been fun. Will cherish the memories, and friendships, that i've made over the years. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

This needed to happen way back in 2001, when Andrew took the forums down the first time.

He never should have brought them back online.

I have to say, this change is pretty heartbreaking. I've always loved the forums and have had an amazing time here.

I can understand using so many other platforms, but I feel like completely removing the forums is not the way to go. I wonder if Jagex had a higher interaction on their forums, we would be seeing more people here.

Additionally, I feel like removing the forums without providing another unique platform is rather odd. I understand that many people are using Discord, Twitter, and Reddit, but I feel like a company as large as Jagex would have their own updated community platform that they would frequent.

Either way, it's been wonderful meeting as many people as I have on here.

MAYBE if there was someone here to HELP people the forum would get used more often . I have posted plenty of time in the 16 or 17 years I have been playing . There used to be moderators at least , hanging around that could answer questions or lead you in the right direction . Then it was ...maybe get a reply a few days . ? Im playing a game , I cant wait DAYS for an answer . Now your lucky to get an answer at all . As far as "well theres lots of other places you can go " yeah , and most those places dont have what your looking for and it takes a LOT of time , digging around and half the time you never do find what your looking for
