The problem with social postings from J-mods is the community management team shrunk considerably. There used to be 9 forum curators who's sole responsibility was to interact with the forums. Then we had gold posts aplenty. Now we have technically 2 ok more like 1 1/2 truth be told, and even they have other responsibilities, to take care of.

So J-mods can only post from their J-mod accounts from the office. Which means in their free time they can post on the forums. However they can post to social media platforms from anywhere. So they tend to do that far more.

It also doesn't help that the 3 we do have posting regularly don't have their golden paint backgrounds. They were given purple backgrounds while Jagex tried to figure a workaround to allow them to post from J-mod accounts from outside the office at their home bases as I think all 3 are in Canada. The process has been quite slow to say the least. But our 3 Local Moderators are J-mods for the forums if they ever complete the work around. So you do have them interacting with the community CM Nick, CM Brandon, and CM Arbor post quite often :) .

For someone who has 143,907 posts within these forums over the years (Me) if I honestly thought they were dead I wouldn't be here really. I would have gone elsewhere.

I don't see the forums as dead far from it. Yes it has quiet times as do all of us.

We the Community have asked for a Forum Update for a while well years really. We still have hope that 1 is coming and it will be of great help to the Community who use the forums daily. I would love tos ee a nice shiny new forums as would others. Sad thing is other things come first with the Dev team. So hopefully in the next year or so we have a new forum.

Disclaimer here.

I only use the Forums I refuse to use Social Media as it's crap. :P

To make these forums active and useful then use them while they are here and make good quality threads and posts. It's not hard to add a post to a topic you like. It's not hard to make a whole thread. So fill your boots. ;) Enjoy the forum.
As long as players do have to keep themselves to a very stringent set-up of rules, value of discussion - fact-checked - serious subject etc.etc.etc., and anything else does not comply with those rules players efforts are thrown in the bin.
The reason you have so many posts is due to being a moderator, not that you are solely a forum posting beast making thread after thread yourself.
And yes, ... there we have it again, players have to
'make good quality threads and posts'
and players may survive the bashing down by those people who are in control of these forums. ;)
Jagex isn't allowed to use The RSOF, Jagex is only allowed to act like a business, making lots of money for those who profit
'this project'

There should be some incentive to use the forums at this point, it's like the same 20 people all the time. At least make the forums seem more modern, otherwise no one will want to be on here. There doesn't need to be an in game reward or anything, but come on, some basic functionality is completely non existent here. I was going to post this in off topic but realized it was very relevant.

It's not a rant either. I swear if this thread is moved, locked, or whatever, then this forum is completely hopeless.

Just saying, Jagex makes millions a year in microtransactions alone, but can't modernize their god damn forums? What?
I'm not the only one who's tired of hearing "we'll get to it when we can"..
I've been here listening & watching those discussions (2008/2009) over & over about how wrong Jagex was handling The RSOF, and once Andrew Gower left, Jagex lost control over The RSOF handing it over to
'this project'
them taking over and what you are looking at is the result of others who knew how to do it better than Jagex.
As long as there isn't a 'new project' there's not really a chance for us to see them back, Jagex, quickly.

What you could do is starting to think about a
'new project'
, something in the order of
'the new Social Engagement'
where Jagex plays a key-centre role in it.
See what can be changed and how in comparison to the 'social engagement' back in the day when Jagex were still present on The RSOF.

As Tranq nicely put... CM was a different thing a dozen years ago. Boy did I have fun reading forums when I was younger. Now it's a bit sparesome to say the least!

Tron I disagree that it's all that strict here. The forum code of conduct is so short and so are the game rules and subforum specific rules (though I'd say they're mostly guidelines). Jagex are very keen to protect users in the forum from offensive and flaming posts... I think that's great. In the sense of treating other forumers, yes I think it's stringent, but it has to be to work out somewhat ok.

Sure him being a moderator prompts him to post every time he moderates the forums, but I think you could have reworded that part a little to not demean his 17? years of posting here.

The inaccuracies in your post keeps growing from that point on. I've got a plant to water - catch you later! :P

Considering you said can only post from office, I guess you meant "in their free time they can't post on the forums"?
I never really thought about that much, so thanks for the info.
Sorry if I'm mistaken though.

Sure - inaccurate info in the sense that it opposes the true state of forums; users have a lot of freedom to create posts which aren't necessarily decent or of any significant quality. Consider reading the post from a new forumer point of view - would it not seem to you that you would be warned for posting less serious content? It's a way to scare off new people without providing any credible source to the accusations. What I meant was that they typically don't have free time. Points at our forum curators. They're currently jugging multiple projects that have really nothing to do with the forums exactly. It's why we rarely see Mod Kari or Mod Poerkie currently. They're busy individuals. The rest of the J-mods are busy as well most are performing double and triple duties they normally wouldn't have to do cause of the pandemic. Can only have so many people in the office at a time. So everyone while at work is well busy working.

I'm on a 150MBPS wired connection and I spent up to 30 seconds just navigating between pages cus it takes so fucking long to load.
This website is ass. Jagex need to just redo the entire thing from scratch using more efficient technologies.

I say this because I bet it drives people away who are curious enough to wander here. Pisses me off hence my inactivity.

Also one of my main gripes, as to why I constantly always need to re-authenticate logging in. Every other modern website is able to retain this information without having us re-do it 5 times. The inactivity timer is way too strict. I would have no issues if the timer was extended for a longer duration.
