I think you are somewhat missing my point.

In previous years the existence of these forums was not under question as they were thriving.

That is no longer the case, there's been a definite whiff of tumbleweed about them for some time now. Hence the scrutiny lately.

Historical popularity has no bearing on the here and now; Jagex are looking at how well utilised the Forum is currently. Certainly, it's picked up a little since the announcement of the potential closure but it would be prudent to try to continue the upwards trend in use and then to maintain it, if the Forum is to survive.

The onus to post is not on the JMods (never has been), it's on the people who want to retain the forum. Despite any level of previous activity, if people are unwilling or unable to post currently then the forums will almost inevitably be closed down due to lack of user interest in .... well, using them.

Let's be real now. None of the RSOF is what it was, be it LLF or HLF. Patronage has dropped off slowly but steadily during the past few years for various reasons.

Idk why Jagex have decided to close some forums and not others. I don't know why they think merging some will make the forums a better experience. Imo, it won't make it any better at all, it'll just put the few remainers in a smaller space and maybe make it look 'busier' when, in fact, it isn't.

The whole damn thing is in danger of imploding and the only way to keep it going in any form is to use it. Harping on about 'how we used to post on it' means nowt. Telling JMods they should keep the ship afloat is pointless; there's nothing in it for them so they won't.

If it's not used then it's redundant and not worth the administrative time involved to keep it open.

If people are serious about keeping things going then they should take a bit of time away from Reddit, or Twitter, or Discord or wherever the hell it is they've gone and actually use the thing they want to keep open. It's that simple.

And I really think you are better than a comment like that, Chee. It does nothing to address the points I have made. Indeed, it only serves to illustrate that you may very well be shying away from the topic of the threatened closure and the points I have raised, painful and unpalatable though they may be.

Don't lose sight of the fact here that I am not the enemy. I am not the one proposing taking away something that people say they love and cherish.

Indeed, I am one of a handful actively attempting to keep the place alive - by posting on it.
It's true my posts (as FiFi or anyone else) are not high quality, but I'm making the effort at least.
