I've heard some narrow-minded things in my life, but that really takes the cake. Do you have any idea how many people are disenfranchised in their own first world country?

yea even though you shouldn't take his comment too seriously, he is kinda right.

Would you rather lack the right to vote (which most people don't even vote), or have to spend 1/3 of your day walking to to only collect water? http://water.org/water-crisis/women-children-facts/

I am in no way saying that we should be complacent and let the government run us over just cuz they're offering us a better lifestyle, but trading your ability to vote (as seen in a proper communistic society) for having your needs taken care of wouldn't be that bad of a trade-off. There have been communistic societies that flourished and their citizens enjoyed it, but I won't continue to explain more.

I will. North Korea sucks cause those poor bastards sometime gotta work 80 hours a week and then still have electricity curfews. Right wing dudes sometimes talk this 'work hard and get ahead' myth invoking Lex Naturalis, but my favorite true thing about capitalism is that its supposed to enable all of us to 'work a little and get by.' Capitalism is supposed to make it easy to be poor.

Key words, though, are supposed to , and the best example of how that ain't workin is that poor lady who sued Flint, Michigan for lead poisoning her kids. She got shot. Nobody caught for it. Thats a hit. Thats clearly an assassination.

So my precious capitalism has to be defended from both communism and corporatism. The Flint example is a lot dramatic, so lets pick somethin more pedestrian. Swipin from Robert Reich I know that we charge a 15% capital gains tax, and thats a discount, because theyre supposed to be using their own money to put into whatever company. Like Ford... I think. The reality, though, is that companies like Mitt Romney's Bain Capital are collecting other people's money and investing that into diverse things like Burger King or Toys R Us, excoriating those places by firing all the people who been there a long time and got raises, replacing 'em with new hires who make less, then selling at a profit. Bain capital ought to be payin more like 30%. Every possible interpretation of the laws around that would say so, but DOJ was run by dude who was a lawyer for banks, who didn't prosecute banks, who went back to work in his corner law office they left open for him after a few years of post-TARP management... and not enough people rioting, so... nothing changing.

You live with 38 out of 100 points of privilege.

You’re not privileged at all. You grew up with an intersectional, complicated identity, and life never let you forget it. You’ve had your fair share of struggles, and you’ve worked hard to overcome them. We do not live in an ideal world and you had to learn that the hard way. It is not your responsibility to educate those with more advantages than you, but if you decide you want to, go ahead and send them this quiz. Hopefully it will help.

The access to clean water is still a problem for some people and some areas in 1st world countries. As well as food, shelter, medical treatment & medications, clean clothes.

The majority are already complacent and government already run us over. The point being that no society is perfect. Disfranchisement and disparities exist everywhere, including so called 1st world countries. To deny that is ignorance.

May you never find yourself homeless, struggling for food, water, shelter, medical treatment and medications. May you never find yourself caught up in a bureaucratic loophole when trying to register to vote only to be denied that 'right' (because it DOES happen more often than anyone wants to admit).

I hope you never find yourself without the 'privileges' that you enjoy and remain safe in your bubble, but I also hope you open your mind to the world around you so that you can see and realize that all the things you take for granted are in fact being denied to others even in that 1st world country you believe to be taking care of everyone.

Haha try being born where I was and then complain about how bad the first world is xD.

I'm not saying everything is perfect here, but it's a privilege just to live here, and not fear government intimidation when you speak out.

that reminded me! thanks! yeah this is relevant to him. Canada used to put you in jail for being a sex offender if you admitted being gay. Not that long ago either.

My pregret [sic] is always that like... whatever lady, muslim, gay dude, syrian refugee, black guy, mexican, child, or minority that needs help: I know they deserve better help than me. I am six kinds of nose hair, bacon, farts, and outbursts of bad language. I tend to be all they got though, and I'll have to do til somebody better gets here. I see them "INCEL" whiners tryin to call me "white knight" or some shit like that... and I am always like "oh no, failgamer, I am a border reiver. My clan coined the words "gang," "blackmail," and "bereived."" I ain't no altruist. I believe that "diversity is strength."
