death hurts, a lot i would assume, especially when someones torturing you and eviscerating people that are important to you infront of you, try and be in a perfectly fine scenario with that, but oh wait, you are thinking of it like a game instead of like a human making all of your observations irrelevant

any pain he goes through is only temporary. idk i have yet to feel bad for him but i know everyone feels different than others do about things

@wolfie, i must say while i don't really care much for action scenes, the plot outside of it is holding my interest well.
After watching the end of killua's fight with Riehlvelt I couldn't help but laugh and what i loved the most is that it didn't feel like a forced joke or anything. For reference, its when killua shoots him up in the air while being electrocuted and asks him if he wishes to be caught(and electrocuted) or to die. It may seem sadistic but it was just the funniest thing to see his face when he realized what being caught meant. (episode 34) I felt like a lot of the "jokes" in the first arc revolved around Leorio being the "stupid" friend in the group and making all the bad calls and judgements which I don't really find amusing considering these are the people that are supposed to be the elitists in terms of strength mentally/physically/logically.
edit: laughed again when Gon said he'd turn the snakes to maximum and then just stuck his tongue out instead. I guess its the small things they do that make me laugh.
while im enjoying it, i still miss the old ending song
edit: wanted to ask the people that might know more about the culture, what does holding up the two fingers mean? i see it a lot combined with the winking.

Pretty sure it's typically a "V" for victory. The wink implies it was easy or expected.
I'm bad and I feel bad.

You guys are thinking VERY unrealistically about this. Everyone complaining is probably numbed down by the average OP characters in anime. You have to understand that this guy would barely pass as an adult since he has never taken up any responsibilities in his life.
People have suffered serious traumas and PTSD over much much much milder things, if you understand that simple concept and what might happen to someone psychologically which may affect their decision making (diverting it from what seems logical to someone with a calm mind) then you would completely understand the effects and reactions that the main character.
"any pain he goes through is only temporary", to say this is literally crazy just simply based on what I said above. If anything he's slightly OP compared to the average human since most people would probably have completely lost their sanity and fallen into despair.
he also has magic powers and rides around on a dragon. it isnt realistic.
he is completely un-relatable for me and has a completely different mindset about the way he does things. i dont try and compare him to other anime characters but instead to myself which is why i often cant stand him
and then also the things that he does that i dislike most is when he isnt in any danger usually.
him loosing his shit when with the cultist i get. the whole cringey white knight bullshit for Emilia at the royal court or whatever it was called was the lowest point for me

Anyone else really excited for the next Dragon Ball Super episode?
I really hope they make Black's new transformation overpowered, and stronger than Super Saiyan Blue. There needs to be a new "threat" in the show in my opinion; someone capable of striking fear into Beerus/Whis, and even Zeno.

people who are run over by vehicles have mental blocks in so they literally cant think about it because theyd fall into a massing heap on the ground, and he remembers far worse then that hundreds of times over....

how many times has he died now
5-6? of those i remember a few being kinda bad. but he also hap a bunch that were instant/painless
and then i will have to disagree with you on how people react to pain and painful experiences
all that aside that isnt the reason i dislike him. i just think he is a shitty person. has nothing to do with him being 'traumatized' from his fights

The trauma of loss can also be incredible motivation. Knowing you need to get things right or you will die horribly and probably watch those you love also die horribly pumps your adrenaline, willpower, and critical thinking up to 11 billion out of 10. The people that collapse thinking about a car accident? Amazing what they will do to avoid cars.
Not everyone reacts to stress the same, but this is also a common reaction.
