Yep! :)

New anime season is upon us, so it's time for another bumperino of this ole thread.

Initial thoughts of the season so far...

Vinland Saga - As far as the first three episodes are concerned, this honestly looks like one of the best series of the past decade. Out of all the shows to have aired so far this year, I recommend this one the most.

Dr. Stone - Seems really decent and has already been scheduled for 24 episodes. The plot is pretty unique, so I've got high hopes for it.

Fire Force - Seems okay. I don't think it's as good as all the hype led me to believe it was going to be, but it at least seems decent enough to stick with.

Arifureta - TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE ADAPTATION. Like, holy crap did they butcher the source material. Series may be okay for anime-only fans, but this is one of the worst adaptations of a light novel series that I've seen in a long, long time. Anyone who's read the LNs is bound to be disappointed by it.

How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift - Not gonna lie. I initially gave it a watch for the fanservice, but the comedy is so good that I'll watch it all the way through just to get some good laughs. Best comedy of the season so far for me.

Astra: Lost in Space - Seems decent enough. It's exactly what the title sounds like.

Isekai Cheat Magician - I haven't read the source material, but the first episode seemed extremely generic. I really hope it gets better, otherwise I'll likely wind up dropping it.

Demon Lord, Retry - Extremely bland/generic with pretty much no redeeming qualities imo. I don't often drop a series after only one episode, but this is an exception.

To the Abandoned Sacred Beats - Plot's not all that great imo, but the animation looks decent and it's at least an okay source of action/violence this season. I'll probably watch it all the way through just to get my action fix.

Cop Craft - Seems like what we'd get if "Gate" turned into a buddy cop series. It's... interesting, at least. lol

Post continued from above.

The Ones Within (Japanese title is Naka no Hito Genome [Jikkyouchuu]) - Terrible premiere. If the next two episodes are even half as bad as the first one, then I'll be dropping it.

Granbelm - Another magical girl death battle series, but with mechs. Seems kind of bland, but I'll stick with it for now since it's another okayish source of action.

I was considering watching this as I've got the first novel in my kindle library, but haven't gotten around to read it yet. Guess there's no point. :|

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. I've gotten pretty used to most anime adaptations rushing things a bit (trying to cram three novels into twelve episodes and the like), but the first episode of Arifureta was a good bit worse than the norm.

Only shows in recent memory that seemed worse were 7Seeds and Master of Ragnarok.

Updated thoughts now that I've been able to see more of some of the above shows:
Fire Force - Episode 2 seemed MUCH better than Episode 1 did, but Episode 3 was back to just being sort of... okayish, I guess. A couple of plot twists that were introduced were about as cliche as plot twists can get, so that was disappointing.

Astra: Lost in Space - Seems to be a bit better than I initially thought. Considering that I liked the show from the get-go, that was a pleasant surprise. In addition to the whole "lost in space" aspect of the show, the plot also seems to deal with
the fact that the entire group of characters was basically sent on a mission that was supposed to result in the whole lot of them dying. One of them also appears to be a traitor who knows full well that they're basically on a suicide mission. Pretty interesting, I think. Hopefully the ending doesn't wind up being a disappointment.

Isekai Cheat Magician - Still seems pretty generic, but I may wind up sticking with it after all. It's trash imo, but it's also likable trash. Lol

Demon Lord, Retry - Watched the second episode after a friend urged me to. Episode 2 was much funnier than Episode 1, so I also stuck around for Episode 3. I would honestly go as far as to say that it's objectively one of the worst adaptations of the season, but the last two episodes also gave me the impression that it's one of those "it's so bad that it's good" series. We'll see if it keeps that up.

Cop Craft - REALLY enjoyed Episode 2. I knew literally nothing about the series before watching Episode 1, so this is one of the biggest surprises of the season for me. Really digging it so far.

Post continued below.

The Ones Within - Dropped this one after Episode 2. I honestly don't even care what happens at this point. This show would basically need to turn into Corpse Party for me to consider giving it another shot, but I have a feeling that that's just not going to happen.

BEM - Didn't get the chance to mention this one the first time around, but it seems... interesting. Another supernatural detective show. Gonna watch Episode 2 later today, but for now I can say that I didn't enjoy Episode 1 quite as much as I enjoyed Cop Craft.

Edit: Watched two more episodes of BEM. Not a terrible series, but there are a lot of series with similar themes that come across as much, much more entertaining. I'd give what we've seen so far a 6/10 at best. Just seems super average imo.

In addition to all of the above, Vinland Saga returns this coming up Sunday. I'm super excited for that, and once again, I can't recommend that series enough. If anyone reading this thread watches even a single show this season, then I very strongly suggest having that be the first series you try out.

As for stuff other than simulcasts... finally got around to subscribing to HIDIVE (Sentai's streaming service) and am marathoning shows that I'd previously put off. Food Wars is much better than I expected. About halfway through it right now and am really digging it. Gonna plow through Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon next.

I'm rewatching my entire rsn from scratch, gx and 5ds are where its at!
I couldn't find myself to like an 'entire series' of any of Yugioh tbh. The original series, I only liked the Dartz storyline. The only parts of GX I liked was the Sartorious story line, and the only part of 5Ds I liked was the Earthbound Immortals story line. As the series progressed and they made it more complicated, is when I've started to lose interest.... like syncro summoning - stupid confusing concept imo.

I did recently watch that new Yugioh movie that came out. Kaiba is such an annoying character...
