Your current avatar has to be edited, posted here, and then Indy uploads it and gives you an avatar code, which goes here:

To open the settings quickly you can just right click somewhere on the forum page and go to RS Linkify Settings

You can see from Lust's custom avatar that they're clearly the hat expert here :) Although I think Cyanid did his himself

E: If you ever fancy making your own, bear this in mind:
Indecent Act said :

- Images must be 100 x 100 pixels. (no bigger or smaller)
- Small file size. (but don't worry too much, in most cases I can optimise them)
