Here you go :)

I usually make the background transparent, but for snow that doesn't really work well. I did softened the edges a little, hope this is okay.

Interesting, for some reason Adblock Plus and AdBlock (Easy list) is killing stuff on previews. https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easylist.txt

Starting to wish Chrome had ABE now...

So before anyone begins to wonder why something doesn't appear when previewing messages (this is at least just me), check your other extensions. I went and whitelisted secure and services, but it's odd that it does what it is doing.

Edit: For some reason ##.top is hidden.

How likely do you think it would be to make the reworked extension for Firefox? I tried it personally in the past for something else (as well as forgot how), but do you think it would be worth trying?

I think I'll try it again for something small then see how many changes are required to get things ported. ;)

XUL files are a pain... Anyhow I want this to work eventually. :)

Edit 4: I'm not sure how far along you are with the changes to Linkify, but I thought the Updates page on the Settings deserved some TLC. :)

Hiya Ryan M :)

I'm not much help with adblock. I have never used any form of adblock and have no plans on changing. I'll spare you my over opinionated views for now though :)

As for firefox, I have played around a little in the hope of porting Linkify. I got the basics of image embedding and making plain text URL's into links. But it was far from perfect.

I found it really hard, the whole development process seems rather convoluted. I just spent all my time looking for information on the simplest things (and rarely found it). Seriously I know JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and so on. But that's not enough, I guess I expected to be able to jump in and knock out some code, and I really wasn't prepared for what's involved in making a FF extension from the ground up.

I've been thinking about making a greasemonkey script, but I need to ditch the chome apis and in some cases they are really hard to substitute but I can see it's do-able.

The new version of Linkify is much more jquery oriented, this is partly because I'm thinking about browser compatibility in the future. Once that's done and been out for a while, it might be a good time to look into greasemonkey, though I'd rather write a firefox extension. I guess I'll see when the time comes.

Oh my, lovely work on the options page, that's actually what I'm working on at this very moment.

I'm having trouble deciding what way to go. After redoing the tabbed interface I have decided I don't like it. See spoiler.

So I decided this morning (at 5:00 am, and yes I had slept) to try a different approach.

I always believed settings / options pages should look clean, and have a minimalist styled layout. That philosophy hasn't really prevailed with linkify, since most of the options are literally tacked on.

So here's what I did while I was waiting for the sun to rise, was still on my first coffee!

Eeep char limit, I think I can squeeze in a smile

:)

Yep..whew! :)

Since I ran out of characters I couldn't say big thank you for your awesome work on the updates page.

As I mentioned, I'm not sure where I'm going with the options, but that doesn't matter because that's all happening later. I'm sure things will change many times between now and then.

I only know what's happing right now, but even then I don't know how long things will last, so there was no hesitation with this update. I just want it out there and I want you to know your efforts are not only greatly appreciated, but have been put into effect immediately.

Thanks to Ryan M, version 3.1.7.42 has a sexy new updates page :)

Edit: It looks awesome!

Another Edit:
I assume you have sorted the adblock issue, I know this image isn't from the preview page but these are the sort of things I'd expect to cause problems.

I know it's 'add' and not 'ad', but that list covers many things beginning with 'add'.

That's awesome . Also, I think it's more along RS uses Top for advert placement and it was ignored on an update to Easy list. I've whitelisted the domain for now.

Links for my remembering:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/dialog
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/window
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/XUL_controls
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/Tutorial/The_Box_Model
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/Tutorial/Features_of_a_Window

So I finally figured out XUL, but I kind of feel sad that it has to be stripped down (from what I have done) from certain things like the avatar preview, custom posts, and color picker to make it work (when I get around to it).

It'll be more fun to strip down what can't be used and what's being left out from the various JS files. I still have to setup a default preferences file (like the !localsettings in background.js) and I probably won't deal with localization (locale).

To be fair most of what I've tried to get going has been the option interface, sorting where all the files are supposed to be, and wishing there was a visual representation of a XUL file without having to constantly import it to FF.

If I do get along with this, I doubt it would be done before the Forum reskin. Still having fun with it though despite the headaches it has caused me on the interface.

The least I'll get done is/are the Options interface(s) so that someone else can try their hand at porting it. I know it's wanted. I can now use the Jagex Soon(tm) on something for once! :D
