Hiya 0ze, all very good questions. I'll do my best answer them :)

My first question is, what exactly does it 'see

That's hard to answer. It's easier to tell you what it can't see.

- RS Linkify can not run on login pages, so it can't see your password or username.

- It can't see any personal information. It can't see anything other than forum pages.

- RS Linkify does not submit any data or share any data with anything or anyone.

- Even I can't see who uses my extension.

Can you access their computer - be it simply to store data or collect data - in any way?

- No I can't access your computer, I can't even access your browser with exception of an optional setting that adds features to your forum history. This by default is off and chrome will alert you with clear warnings if you choose to allow it.

- Your settings are stored in the browser's local storage. This storage does reside on your computer. However the browser controls that. All RS Linkify can do is ask chrome to save settings. I can't see where they are saved.

Secondly, will using the extensions Adblock, Adblock Plus and Tampermonkey interfere with its functionality?

-No, RS Linkify does not and can't circumvent or interfere with any software. RS Linkify can only talk to chrome, not the apps that run within chrome.

is there any statement from Jagex

No and I don't expect there ever will be. Very few J-Mods have commented about RS Linkify, the few comments have been positive but not endorsing it though. See the most recent comment on this thread below.

While we can't officially support this I personally want to say I think this is an awesome addition.

Nice one! :)

Continued...

As I said, all great questions. I'm not sure I covered everything in as much detail as you'd have liked. But I'm more than happy to elaborate if needed.

I feel if you are not comfortable using certain software, then don't. The last thing I want is my users to not feel safe. You don't need RS Linkify to be able to enjoy the forums, though I believe it helps :)

Feel free to toss more questions at me or ask me to expand on my answers. I like nothing more than answering good questions. I don't and wont treat any concerns as trivial, quite the opposite in fact :)

Google wont host my extension without a privacy policy. See link for my privacy policy.

What does this do, specifically? And if I do choose to enable it, what do you mean by 'accessing' my browser? Like... what does that consist of?

I'm going to need to use some images to explain this.

No doubt you would have noticed on some web sites, links you had previously visited are coloured differently. See image for an example: http://i.imgur.com/uvV8MJx.png

RS Linkify can make the forums do the same thing, so links and quick find codes that you have already visited will be highlighted. It also applies to threads too: See pic: http://i.imgur.com/GDlAg8E.png

In order for what's shown in the image to happen, RS Linkify needs to see your history. Since history is a sensitive subject I have made it by default disabled and optional. It cant be turned on automatically or programmatically. The browser will prompt you with a warning if you choose to enable it.

So by accessing your browser, I mean you can allow RS Linkify to look for visited forum pages in your browser history and recolour any matching links on forum pages.

Okay that was a long answer but I feel if I explain how it works you get a bigger picture.

Now here's the thing, I don't use that option. Not because I don't trust myself, but because I find too much colour distracting. RS Linkify has a number of other colouring options that I do use and it just gets too much for me if everything is coloured.

One final thing. Don't take a J-Mod post as saying they use it. Because I simply don't know if they do or not. I'm sure they don't use on their J-mod accounts, but perhaps on their personal accounts some may (like Mod Daezhun did when he was around).

Seriously, it's moments like this that make me wish I wasn't so overly-cautious about stuff. This extension is amazing! Thank you for creating it, and answering my questions - again, lol.

Awesome, glad you like :)

You have a good attitude towards 3rd party software, I wouldn't say overly cautious at all. Don't change your approach. I encourage you and everyone to question everything!

I think my favourite 'little' feature so far, is the ability to disable emoticons.

Did Jagex remove that or something? You'd been able to do that since forever, at the bottom of your forum profile :o

Personally I make all my posts have a little blue border - I am in the same boat as Indy about "too much colour being distracting" (paraphrased, sorry), so a subtle blue border to distinguish my own posts is pretty nice.

For instance:

And a semi-subtle blue to tell when I've visited a thread:
