i dont think u should be too upset with losing to wales
i mean its mostly pl vs pl/former pl players... lower table teams steal points from higher table teams there all the time, esp when the whole backline is sus/inj

Belgian manager is not going to resign...

He called it "a good tournament, 1/4 finals is not bad".

Like, dude, it's Belgium and you lost to Italy and Wales.

Sorry July, but you have a little too high expectations about Belgium there. Italy was and is way better than Belgium. So there was no surprise in losing to them. Wales, on the other hand, would have been beatable. But not this time. Wales played very very well.

I don't, Belgium have enough talent and enough good players to win any big tournament, but our manager has wasted 4 years in which we have made absolutely no progress, despite beating Italy and France in friendlies in the last 2 years (we have faced no other big teams).

Italy, on the other hand, for some reason they have been more successful than they are supposed to be. Their generation came to and end 2 years ago, but Conte has been able to turn average players into a great team. For Belgium, it's the opposite. Our manager has succeeded in turning great players into an average team.

As for the current generation: Belgium > Italy, always. We need a better manager, that's all. We lost to Italy due to a failed tactical plan. We lost to Wales yesterday because our manager thought he could repeat that failed tactical plan, by again putting Fellaini as 10, which hadn't worked against Italy and which was therefore never going to work against Wales (who play in the same defensive style as Italy).

Also, Wales appears to be our black beast. We have won 17 of our last 24 games (that's since the world cup ended). During those 24 games (including yesterday), we faced Wales 3x and we couldn't beat them (1x draw, 2x loss). That leaves 4/24 games, of which 1 against Italy during the group phase, so we didn't win at only 3 other occasions. During those 24 games, we also played against Italy, France before the Euros started and we beat them with ease.

I said it before the tournament and I'm going to repeat it here: Germany, England and Belgium were the teams with the best selections and therefore the favourites to win it. I still stand by that, even for England, who had imo the same issue as Belgium: a lot of talent, but a manager who lost the tactical battles.

As team Italy play better but individually, man for man, Belgium has a lot better players.

Its been a theme of this tournament, a working system that suits the team has beat individual talent every time.

There is your problem. You compare important Euro knock-out games to unimportant friendly matches.

Belgium might have talented players, but their teamplay and chemistry is poor. Unlike Wales'. And therefore they beat you.

That's what July is saying, he's saying the team has a lot of talent and should on paper be looking to get to the final but the manager has let them down and hasn't found a working system to get the best out of the players.

Sorry to break the news, but Italy > Belgium, always. Italy won because they are a lot better.

Yesterday we lost due to our 4 best defenders* not being able to play (3 injured, 1 suspended). The replacements had very little experience. With a severely weakened defence, our manager had to come up with a new plan, and he failed.

*Kompany, Lombaerts, Vermaelen, Verthongen

Belgium are #2 and Italy are #12 on the FIFA-ranking for a reason. Yes, you can say there's something wrong with that ranking, but in the end the ranks are determined by how often you won your games. To call Italy better than Belgium, proves that you do not follow international football outside of this tournament.
