A lot of people complain about the idea of first person WASD because of what Jagex said regarding the tile movement but I'd be 100% on board with it. It'd make RS feel like an old school dungeon crawling RPG. Those games ran off of a tile-based movement system yet were first person. I think it'd be a really cool way to create a new feel for the game (as long as it was toggle-able, of course) and it wouldn't even require that much development time on Jagex's part.

RS already has a retro movement system, feeling akin to very old school RPGs (like the later Ultima games) as well as point-and-click adventure games. Why not add another way of controlling the game, a way that would feel equally retro but entirely different?

Like Revolution, it would be completely optional. You would have to SELECT First Person Mode.

Wanna get a feel what it would be like? Put the camera behind your character at the lowest that it will go, move your character in the world and then follow it with the camera make believing that you're a player FOLLOWING your avatar.

Gawd it would be so much fun for VERY LITTLE coding! This could even be a NINJA Strike it would be so easy to implement.

I was just looking at a different game's VR. If First Person was implemented, it would only take a simple distance algorithm to make Runescape VR compatible in 3D. How sick would THAT be.

It would make Runescape instantly Metaverse compatible.

Yea I've been running around some with the camera at ground level zoomed in. It really does look cool from down there.

The view likes to bounce back up for me, not sure if that is an issue with the terrain or if it does that purposely.

Also some of the clicky hotspots are flat from that angle, so they would need to be made taller.

So like if I was flighting the anti-glacor boss I would see a few ice crystals bouncing around in front of me and I would have to imagine it was some kind of hideous creature that was trying to hurt me.

Some bosses are definitely too big for First Person. That's why making it a camera mode would be so advantageous. You can switch back and forth, from first person to third person, as needed.

Jagex could program a warning like when you go into a dangerous area. "This area has creatures too large for first person mode, would you like to switch to an overhead view?"
