I would suggesting just hoping for a Ports expansion this year or next instead

I am testing numbers and data in the beta, I should be able to post results within a few days.

However, expecting to get +1% traits on standard crew is unrealistic - its 90% RNG. Yes crew traits/bonuses are locked in the moment they APPEAR on your crew roster (not when you buy them, a detailed difference I learned thanks to the Weapon Diversity beta).

If crew traits were easily challenged, every single Ports Completionist would be expected to have +4% crew and captains lol (if it didn't require dozens more pictures).

===== Section 191: Recruiting Optimal Endgame Crew =====


You may have wondered during your Ports career - How are crew personal bonuses and traits determined?

To start, I had 3 crew ready for recruit on my roster for a long time (waiting for a beta to appear). I had built.
- Zhonghu Player (Morale):
Above standard: from trait.
- Gu-Bodyguard (Combat):
Above standard: (40 from , 20 from personal bonus).
- Stargazer (Seafaring):
Above standard: , +10 Morale, +40 Speed (no traits, all personal bonuses).

Using past knowledge and data gathered during the Weapon Diversity Beta (which allows us to import new saves once per hour), I came to the following conclusions:
- Personal bonuses in all 4 stats can total up to +120, with maximum of +70 in a single stat.
- Once the crew shows up on roster, its bonuses/traits are set in stone. Switching from Fearless/Swashbuckler/Mariner Lodgings won't change anything - its too late if they are on your roster for hire.
- Most flavor text (crew examines) are just cosmetic, but there are obvious good and bad ones which affect personal bonuses and traits (but the trait(s) can be negative - RNG).
- Shield tier lodgings have ~33% chance of affecting their specialty stat via personal bonuses and/or stat-specific traits (which CAN be negative).

Scroll voyages never get easier - only harder as new regions are unlocked. Continue finishing the rest of section 28 while also incorporating parts of section 45.
