Is it maybe time to call it quits with new completionist requirements altogether? In many cases I get the feeling new requirements do more harm than good. As someone not even wanting a completionist cape, I see many pieces of content being devoured by people just to keep their completionist cape.
People complain when it becomes too difficult, creating a risk of Jagex catering towards devaluing content to make it more manageable for completionists. Regardless, the end result is a community that literally has done everything, often including many things they dislike, just for this cape. Which pretty much kills any variety in achievements in the game and the more sane mentality of playing for fun.

Is it still worthwhile adding new requirements to this cape, when it kills the fun out of the game? Should we not just have the system introduced during runefest that keeps track of achievements take over from the cape, while letting the mentality of the game go back to playing for fun?

^ I'm all for new requirements and actually look forward to them, with time locked content however, it's not about how hard the content is to complete, it's the fact that the only players who will even care about this is the trimmed community who have basically just had their hard earned cape locked away for like 3 month and can't really do anything about it. If this was a req where you could just keep getting new assignments from death like you do with a slayer master, that would be acceptable.

But in doing so you change the very nature in which these rewards are attained, suddenly making them campable whereas previously it required someone to have patience and persistence. Basically devaluing part of the value the rewards have.

Yes then one could argue that perhaps an amnesty period can be used in which (trimmed) completionists can attain time-locked rewards. Still, I often see complaints when a new requirement is released, even when its not timelocked. I admire the attitude of indeed enjoying keeping a completionist cape, but get the feeling many lost this aspect of playing the game, instead trying to do content for said cape even if they dislike said content. Again creating this community that has completed everything for the sakes of a cape.

Personally I think that due to this the times where one cape can rule over all content should be over.

Original Reaper requirement wasn't time locked/gated

Uhh? Wasn't the original requirement to buy Bonfire Booster, Instance cost reduction and Additional Tasks?

Might be for Trim (can't remember), in which case I apologise (sorry) and concede on that point

But overall, locking things behind a daily time gate without a grace period (and removal of items) is a unfair and punishing approach because it literally stops people from completing the content

Whilst there is an option to use Slayer points it's hardly reasonable either :|

If I were a Trim comp player I'd be fucked off as well tbh
