I was fortunate enough to visit Jagex's offices this month.
Jagex is indeed actively working on a future MMO, and although I can't provide details (I signed an NDA) it does look very interesting!
I don't think it's fair to say that "a lot" of JMods have been moved over to it, though - there are still far more working on the existing games, and from the Jagex website it seems that many of the staff for the new MMO are new hires (although obviously some more experienced folks are running the show).
Nor did I see any evidence that Chinese ownership has resulted in a change in corporate culture, or indeed that the new owners are directly influencing what Jagex does in terms of development.

All of this time I've assumed you were semi-young and now I realize you must be in your 70s.
removed statement about the foriegn language forums entirely since the spanish one was apparently defunct for a while now. The others are also pretty barren with the french one seeming more active. I wouldn't count out most of them being removed, but I'll keep the OP reserved for facts only.
Yeah - Jagex has definitely done a sweep to consolidate and simplify their active products out there.
This is pretty much a business decision - the main products (i.e. Chronicle) probably didn't pick up enough speed to warrant keeping it open. This is really disappointing because it was a solid game with great gameplay - but they never followed up on their promise to make it on mobile. If it had gone in that direction I would of definitely played it.
Funorb - that's about time, they abandoned that years ago.
Then there is RS classic - Personally, I feel that they probably decided that the potential legal impacts of having RS classic unsupported (botting, gold farming, etc) outweighed the benefit of keeping it open for the purpose of nostalgia.
Sad day for Jagex but hopefully they can get some products that pick up more speed in the future.
