If they didn't care about way overpaying leeches (300m for Solak and idk how much for raids when it was released), I think they won't care if the req was removed. Heck, they might be glad that they won't have to pay for future bosses. °l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°

Comp cape shouldn't be at all. It encourages people to play content they don't like, making them play as a chore instead of playing for fun.

+1 agree totally games are about having fun not brags for something which is either done by somebody else or a grind.

Eh, this argument could be applied to anything achievement-related. Having a defined, distant goal is also a source of fun for many - comp cape is my reach goal atm; if it just disappeared, so would a lot of my motivation to play.

Their own fault for wanting to maintain the cape.

no one has mentioned unlocking all prayers and abilities, as this should really be a comp req

but no, seriously, rename it the achievement cape, make it require al quests and mini quests, and after that just a set runescore, and give it tiers of particle effects (of w/e colour you want) so that you start off with a little twinkle and end up a spammy eye sore of particle madness

although i am bias, seeing as my runescore is higher than a lot of (t) people i know, even though i need solak (cba to leech) and profound (mini games are dead, they need to be made rewarding again, im not loafing coz that shits boring) for comp and trim back

edit: if they do go down the runescore route, i prefer they stop making stupid dumb ass achievements lick tickling seiryus nose with a feather, talking to the farm cat, and waving at BSD's hands, as those kind of fake stupid ass achievements devalue the whole achievement system

all the pr0 l33t "im so good coz i have a group of friends who play at the same time as me which makes me a better pvmer than you" people can skip a load of the long grindy achievements like chompies and shit by doing daredevil and shit, so that might placate them from the fact you are taking away the cash cow of leeching that is distorting the RS economy more than the gp per hour of group pvm already was.

In my suggested three-tiered cape, I had listed all non-tradeable abilities as regular trim, and all abilities and prayers as true trim. You get a lot from completing all quests and miniquests, getting the rest can be quite RNG-y. I don't really like the idea of having the base comp cape locked behind luck to that extent.

I am also of the opinion that your suggestions miss the issue of the Completionist cape, in that it urges people to complete content for the sake of a cape instead of fun. So many times I have participated in minigames or pieces of content to hear people complain about it and saying they are completing it for the cape. So many achievements have been trampled upon due to becoming a completionist requirement, hence being rushed (slayer 120…).

You say we should have a new (tt) cape with added requirements like the MQC? NO, please for the love of everything, no! Do you know what that would mean? That would result in people rushing through the MQC requirements for the sake of the next level cape. Complaining about every requirement that in their opinion is not fun, but they ‘have’ to do it for the cape. Devaluing the MQC in doing so. No, that is precisely what I do not want to see.

If anything, the MQC is a shining example of things done right: it specifically tailors to the group of players that enjoy questing and lore, while not being overpowered in stats (personally I would have not minded if it had kept the same stats of the normal quest cape). In doing this, only people who actually like quests and lore will try to get this cape.

Fixing the completionist cape is tough: though unhealthy, it does keep people playing (whatever content you throw at people, as long as it has a completionist requirement), which grants revenue.
Splitting the cape up into subcapes akin to the MQC might be an option: it at least keeps people engaged, while also ensuring people have more choice. Thus making it more likely that they get the cape they would have most fun in getting. It would solve the ‘one cape rules over all’ issue.
