Prizes are nice, as is Facebook. But together, not so much. But ofcourse what one person like myself thinks doesn't mean much. I'll share my thoughts anyways, just incase ya know?
Jagex and facebook are separate and always have been. Not all of us have Facebook or want it, why should a paying player not have a chance at these prizes simply because they do not own a social networking page? Unfair.
It also seems sortof like a popularity contest as others have said. People should like you on Facebook because they want too, because they like the game, not because they might get a prize.
These prizes would be so much better if they could be given aay for in-game events. Or something actually related to Jagex, not Facebook.
The post above me brings up another factor, security risks. Anyways, none of my clanmembers or myself feel comfortable with anything facebook related. I've entered this competition as it didn't need too much info, but I sure wont be logging in with Facebook, I don't feel like taking that risk.
That's all I have to say. :(

I have put < and > before and after a sentence that is worth reading, incase you don't want the unimportant details.
I don't have a facebook account and I never will want one, one of the reasons is <even if your privacy is completely locked up intelligent people can still get in.> It's not the simplest task, but they can still.
Another thing is, even though I am old enough to have a facebook account <my parents won't let me have one> even if if I did want one.
Facebook, last time I recalled is for <ages 14+ if you want to sign up honestly. While Runescape is 13+ meaning some users aren't even old enough to have a facebook account.>
<Also, players should decide that they want to "like" the Runescape page instead of liking for a chance for a prize.>
Agree?

I frequently use Facebook because it's fun to communicate with friends. However, it's for social purposes only, and I would never want to mix it with a game.
So please Jagex, stop selling out by juxtaposing two complete opposites. This game has plenty of its own problems - there's no need to waste time and resources ******** up your fanbase.

^ You are missing the point.
No one is saying Jagex isn't entitled to use their Facebook page. It's their game and their Facebook page.
They are entitled to do anything they like to their own game. Make an infinite gp spell. Delete fishing. Heck, shut up shop on the game entirely and put their money into venture capitalism. All things Jagex are entitled to do.
What people are saying is that they don't LIKE what Jagex is doing. As paying customers we are also entitled to leave feedback here on the forums. Just saying they can do what they want adds nothing to the discussion, and most importantly doesn't let Jagex have a reflection of their customer's views.
