What's up with this? I got muted once for three days "website advertising" just suggesting to a friend in my clan chat to check out a site, and hmm look you're advertising three different websites. Thanks.
Allow me to reiterate on what others have said, that just makes this kind of crappy to a majority of your long-time supportive players:
-You have your own website that is riddled with bots. **Take care of problems on your own site before celebrating something silly on other sites.** You said years ago you had taken care of bots, they're worse than ever. Most aren't even RWT, they're actual players.
-Facebook is a social networking site, so obviously, a lot of personal information is on there. *Looks at more RuneScape rules* "Asking for personal details". Not hard to friend someone on facebook, is it? Say you're a fellow RS player and I bet most people will accept. That seems safe. *cough* As well as MissingnO said before, social networking can put careers and college dreams in jeopardy. Saying you've put hours upon hours of time into playing on online game wouldn't be something you'd put on a resume, and isn't usually something you'd want people to know about you. Pride doesn't work like that for normal people. The internet is forever, once it's on there, it's there.
-You're promoting a mainstream site...trust me, I've spent a lot of time with people on this game. The majority isn't into mainstream. If you sift through the bots, the newbies, the old and unused accounts, you still have what? a couple million players at least, right? And only half a million followers? Hmm...
You hold these contests for your players, I get that, you're tryin to do something cool for people. But I personally think it'd be a lot cooler to not be so hypocrital with how you do such things. It'd also be nice if you'd set priorities on your game,...but that's off topic I guess.
Good luck to all you facebook people or whatever.
