What are you thinking?! People can just use skype, no need to add it to this game. My mom is threatening to get rid of my membership if this goes through. No! No! And NO! Keep RuneScape a kid friendly game. *sigh* Utterly ridiculous!

Honestly, i do not see this as being used.
Look at the example of other MMO's (remaining unnamed) which have introduced this functionality, which i believe would most likely be better than what would be released by jagex through browser play.
This functionality in other MMO's remains relatively unused as the functioning programs such as skype, ventrilo and Team speak (eww) are in general much more preferred.
I think them introducting this would be in general a waste of time and money as it is not likely to live up to the expectations of many and i believe then time and effort could be put to better uses.

I use Vent and Skype while doing team activities.
Usually only during Soul Wars with my clan or PKing on my pure with my actual team or just close friends.
It'd be cool to see Runescape with some kind of voice chat option, but I have to agree with the guy above me, nobody with a brain would use it.
Why use a browser voice chat when I can talk to my friends on Vent without needing to be on RS? It's more likely that if you already have a head set, you probably already have some type of voice chat software, so it's unlikely that you'll just start using an in-game verbal communication update.

I think this sounds like a good idea, but obviously it shouldn't just be like a free roam chat where everyone around you in-game can hear you. A system like Clan Chats would be good, you have people join a chat and from there they can enable voice chat and go on with talking. For those who oppose this idea, think of how much easier Dungeoneering is with v/c, you're able to group together faster and communicate what is going on in a more timely fashion. Trading with other players would also be easier, instead of having to try to keep track of what's said in chat you would be able to hear what they're offering and they would be able to know if you think that is worth it or not. Overall v/c is a large step for Jagex and I think you guys should go for it.

I use to use Teamspeak when I was in a clan. It was great to have when boss fighting. It also was great to be able to voice chat with my sister in-game because we live far from each other. I would consider using voice chat again if it were part of the game. :)

no, i dont want to listen to some god forsaken 11 year old kids crying in their mic when they get scammed, lured, or want money its a horrible idea and i will get a headache. Kathy instead of making an update like World of warcraft.
Just make a Team speak for rs. Or better yet more quests or a new skill! All these kissups are mod wannabes this is a real FACT. THAT IT WILL BE ANNOYING JUST GET *** OR VENTRILO OR TEAMSPEAK. YOU!!" Personally would you want that? Have you even thought of that? If i was the owner of runescape i wouldnt even let you post this thread and instead of working on the computer you would be in the kitchen making me a sandwhich.

I am from Asia.
I did not use voice chat on RS but I did use it on other online games.
I used a software called - Ventrilo
but these days, i started to use an other called - Raidcall
They have similar function,
just click a button, then out-going your voice, so others can receive your voice imediately.
I hope RS could make or provide these kinds of function, it helps RS become more interesting.
