Hello 'Scapers,

We wanted to provide advance notice of some requirements changes coming in the next few months.

In the near future, RuneScape will no longer support Windows 32-bit builds and for graphics cards that do not support OpenGL 3.0 or higher.

Occasionally we have to make the decision to stop actively supporting older hardware, as continuing support costs development time and effort. This makes testing more complicated and limits our ability to improve the game in other areas.

For more than 99% of all players playing RuneScape today, this change won't affect you.

If you're unsure if this change will affect you, you're unlikely to be affected if your Windows PC and Graphics Cards are 12 years old or younger.

If you want to check if your Graphics Card supports OpenGL 3.0 or higher, we recommend checking out this page: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/203876689-How-to-verify-the-supported-OpenGL-versions-of-the-graphics-card

If you want to check if your Operating System is 64-bit based rather than 32-bit based, we recommend checking out this page: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/203876689-How-to-verify-the-supported-OpenGL-versions-of-the-graphics-card

Thanks so much for your understanding as we continue to make changes that benefit the future of RuneScape.

Is there a way to check supported OpenGL versions without downloading a program to check for you? You can check your system information for the bit and can also see your graphics card info so presumably there'd be a way for those who'd rather minimize downloads.

Press Windows-Key and R-Key simultaneously -> type 'dxdiag' -> on "display" you will find what graphic card you are using. Based on that you can google your way through. "XXX opengl version"

64-bit here, and I've been using OpenGL for quite some time, so I should be good.

Thanks for the heads up, though. Always nice to have plenty of warning about these sort of things, just in case changes have to be made on our end.

You can buy XP. You can't buy experience.
"...From The 'Scape" is very nearly here.
