The reason people are acting different than they would've three years ago is partly (if not mostly) due to the fact that they have never experienced the danger of the game. For example, if you never have the opportunity presented to you to drive a car, or anything close to one, when you are shown a car, you will be afraid. You will think it is unsafe or dangerous, and most likely refuse to drive it. I see it the same as the with the new Wilderness... the players playing today likely joined in 2008-2011, and have always been accustomed to safety, no danger whatsoever, not even the dangerous randoms that used to be present throughout Runescape. And now, come voting time, people still would prefer the freedoms and fun associated with the old Wilderness, and free trade. Yet some of them, however, are afraid, and will likely never approve of anything that is "Scary" or "Dangerous"
