I never minded the threat of being PKed in Wildy, but back in the day the amount of bots and goldfarmers were getting out of hand in such a bad way it was ruining the game for everyone else. Today people use macros on their mains. I actually prefer that, because that way I can think that if they are caught they will be banned, and if they aren't they are at least fewer than the gold farmers were when these changes were made.
I don't as such mind reintroducing old Wildy and free trade. But I still voted no. If the in-game economy is not controlled by some system that evens out the worst peaks and valleys, if there is no convincing system of detecting bots and RWTraders, if there are no guarantees these things will be taken care of and made into non-issues, this is going to go down horribly. I suppose I could buy gold just the way someone else could, but I have never wanted to, and I have been proud to play a game developed by a company that seriously thinks that game stats should be worked on by gamers, and not bots and that advantages should not be paid for with real world money.
What have you done lately Jagex that would show us that you'll have the situation under control if you make these changes? The changes you are suggesting are not bad in themselves. But if the RWT situation of 2006/2007 is reintroduced you'll have ruined RuneScape pretty thoroughly. Old Wildy was a thrill. Free trade was sometimes convenient. The GE is a god send for ppl who want to play and not stand around shouting out there wares and needs. The revenants are far more dangerous than PKers were if you knew how to avoid them.
But seriously. Opening the game for goldfarmers and real world trading, making bots useful again on secondary accounts will violate the whole spirit of the game as it has been presented before. Is this it? You throwing in the towel in an endless fight against rule breakers? Or what? Guarantees, please and evidence. Then everything will be ok. Thanks.
