Was pretty happy when I saw this vote.
I've read a couple of pages and I'm not exactly sure what the majority vote is, but I know I don't have one friend who doesn't want this back, and I have a few old friends who plan on coming back if this actually happens, which I'm convinced it will right now.
Jagex actually are very meticulous and detail-oriented when doing updates, they wouldn't take an issue like this lightly, they acted desperately in 2007 by getting rid of it and now they've finally come up with other ways to fight it. They wouldn't make us wait 3 years unless it was going to take 3 years to achieve this, and I'm going to guess this was their plan all along.
Those of you complaining about not being able to do Treasure Trails or things like that, it's not that bad. I've been doing clues since the Dawn of Time and probably about 60% of them were done before they got rid of the old wildy, I lost a clue maybe once because of PKers. there are too many ways to dodge PKers.
In Mod Mark's chat right now, people conspiring about items that will be removed and such - you're all just being paranoid. The only items at even remote risk of being somewhat removed are the wildy-drop exclusive items, like Vesta and all that fun stuff. I guarantee only about 10% of those who scape actually own or regularly use one of these and maybe .5% of that 10% depend on those weapons. You'll all be just fine.
Jagex wouldn't do this unless they knew it was possible to keep things they way they have been for the last year or so with the lack of bots and scams. There's still a lot of RWT going on right now, regardless of the trade limit. Giving it back will change very little in the long run, I guarantee it.

Sure, there have been bad times with the free trade and old wilderness, but hasn't there been a lot of good times too?
I remember killing someone with my friend and we split the 500 steel arrows we got from him. Sure, it wasn't much, but it was nice to be able to do that. Same friend and I were running to the red dragons; I had just found them and wanted to show him. We found a stack of pure pkers that had *lack dragonhide and other goodies on the ground. My friend and I started to spam that stack of items like crazy! We both died; I kept the chaps and he had the body. I made like 1/3 of my bank at that time that way.
I constantly just give away my money to my friends because I feel I have too much. Instead, I have to do the stupid 15 minute rule. Where's the fun in just standing there waiting for time to pass?
The old wilderness was much better. The wilderness was a place where Zamorak and Zaros fought and devastated the area. So where's all these mini-games coming from then? Bounty Hunter just gets in the way, it takes up a lot of the wilderness. Clan Wars is much the same.
Possibly drop parties would return as well. Drop parties outside the party room are actually pretty fun. I remember the first day I went to RuneScape Classic when it was re-released. Someone was having a drop party and I decided to join in. I got a rune kiteshield and I still have money from that. That gave me a GREAT start into the game.
From what Mark had said, (I don't know for sure if it's legitimate, but it seems that way) they have a way to minimize the bot usage to almost none, and apparently the same way for RWT.
We may as well try this again, what's the harm in a good time again? I'd sure like to experience free trade again. The wilderness will invite a host of older pkers back. The videos and fights to watch will be enjoyable, not just boom boom veng chaotic maul turmoil super pot Vesta down'd. No fun in that. :|
And also, they don't look at names, IPs...

Oh, I forgot: I would be PERFECTLY HAPPY to stipulate to a vote that counts one vote for each HUMAN as opposed to each username/character. While I have only ever seen the need for one character, I'm well aware that lots of people have huge numbers of characters (which I also thought was against the rules, but w/e), and they shouldn't be entitled to one vote per character either for or against the idea. The HUMAN who plays the game is entitled to one vote.
Also, I'd agree that people who actually played under the old system should have a greater say than people who came in after it, though relative newbs certainly are entitled to their opinion that they'd rather not have the game made more dangerous then it has ever been for them. (Or that they want to try something new. Either way.)
Just as long as it's a FAIR VOTE. You must log in with pass*word and vote yes or no. You and all your other characters are then crossed off the list. If that sort of vote happens in this so-far mythical "phase two" that's good, but I doubt the idea would ever REACH phase two without this rigged phase one "poll." If they expect any buy-in from those of us opposed to either or both ideas in the event that they come to pass, they need to admit this was a fake poll and redo the voting fairly. Not that I have any hope that they will.

My view is Jagex already knows its comming back the whole vote thing is just to make us think its fairly done! I honestly do believe the only reason they do want it back is because the lost constumers and the lost money! ... i even believe they want the bots back think about it millions of bots paying for membership thats alot of money! soo regardless if you vote or not its comming back which isnt right i dont even see a no i can click on like everyone is saying but when it comes to money people will do anything i suppose In the beginning God created Adam and Adam, wait wtf?

Here's an idea, instead of letting any old player vote to bring back the wild and free trade. why not make the vote only accessible to players who's accounts were created before they got rid of it. As well as putting in a no vote. that way it is completely fair, and players who have been playing a long time (like myself) and dont want free trade back can actually register their opinion
