...And finally they are coming back :) thanks to all who have voted for this update to finally be restored, and for those who said No, well I know you think its not a good idea, but know this, Jagex is also changing things along the way so that the Wilderness doesnt interfere with anything.

considering that the air oblisesk is remaining, that means the abyss is likely remaining. that means there is likely to be a good number of skillers that realise their main way of making money, has just become pkers main way of making money off their work.
that will lead to a lot of skillers quiting.
ill try the abyss with agility armor. ill try the obelisk with agility armor. if they take out teleing after being attack, im out of here.
ive already looked into eveonline, and i might just find it a better game than a game that tells the majority of players they are second class accounts.
frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.

It's ostensibly because you can't have the old wildy without free trade, or else you can trade by taking what you want to give to the other person into the wildy and letting them kill you.
I don't believe that the other possibility is linked; I think you could have free trade without the old wildy, but supposedly EEVVVRYONE wants the old wildy back. Certainly it seems that Jagex wants the old wildy back. The number of PLAYERS that want it back will remain a mystery.

Not trying to "get in your business," but about your question on the Q&A page about offering 1 mil for ashes or 1 gp for a divine spirit shield: Were those examples just tests of their answer that floors and caps would be removed?
----------
It was to test whether Jagex is truly going to remove price caps and floors on the GE.
Unfortunately, though they said they were, their answer gave an indication that they didn't understand those questions.
For the record, I was asking whether you could make those *offers* if you want to, not whether you could actually *purchase* those items for those prices.
But I do think that the price caps and floors are going to be removed, since one of the JMods said the same thing in answer to another post: that price ceilings would be removed.
As for making ridiculously low or high offers, there might be some instances in which people would do it.
For one thing, people who have more cash than the game allows in a stack need somewhere to put the extra. So they might make a ridiculously high offer on the GE that's never going to get fulfilled in order to "store" cash there.
I'm not sure why someone would offer 1 gp for a divine spirit shield, but I bet someone will find a reason! :P
Now, offering 1 gp for fire or mind runes might actually make sense, since they are pegged at their floor of 5 gp, and it's quite possible that they could go down to 1 gp before all the pent-up stock sells.
And price floors or no price floors, 1 gp is the absolute price floor! ;-) If you manage to buy something for 1 gp, it will never lose value. It has nowhere to go but up!
However, even that is not totally risk-free, as an item could become so over-supplied that it can hardly even be sold at 1 gp. So you could end out stuck with large stocks of an item that you can't sell, or can sell only very slowly

Smart Mage,
The whole reason Jagex removed both free trade and the old wildy from the game was to stop RWT.
This was a very unpopular move with players.
Now Jagex believes it can control RWT in other ways.
So they're bringing back both free trade and the old wildy because they believe their reason for abolishing them no longer applies, and large numbers of players want them back.
So basically, if they don't have a very good reason for keeping them out of the game, they will bring them back to please their customers.

shouldnt we have to give feedback for the trade+wildy to return, i mean some people may not even know what they are voting for.
also...
you say that you have everything under control. but really in some of your FAQs you say you need to 'work on it'. have you really thought out a plan about the wildy+free trade or do you need to 'work on it'?

I hope you make some worlds safe wild with just revs for the players that do not kill other players. I feel that making me have to defend myself and kill other players is something I am not prepared to do I will quit the game, I will find another game similar to this one that offers safe worlds where you kill only monsters and npc's not real people playres.I not a bully and will not become one to stay in any game. I am sure there are lots feel same way. I also believe if you wanted a fair vote you would have split the free trade vote and wildy and had separate votes. I do not believe as many want old wild back as they want free trade.
