That's because the current forum mods were the only ass-kissing snobby people left after the terrible updates of 2007 that ruined the game.
You see... the poll is 90%... they're *** lying.
In case you haven't noticed... most of the people who post on these forums that are FOR the wildy and free trade coming back don't have avatars here on the forums.
That's because they didn't stick around after the crappy updates, myself included, to make their own avatar or continue their memberships.
The excitement of the old system coming back is so large, that all those people are telling their friends and they're telling their friends and people are coming back to vote.
There will be FAR more memberships gained than lost in this update... believe me. Me and two friends IRL are already ready to go to target and buy a runescape membership card the day this comes back. That's already 60 bucks in jagex's pocket. You do the math.

Im glad the vast majority of people want it back. I haven't played RS much in a year or so but my friend told me about this so i went on to check it out**** was so much better when it was more simple in my opinion, I feel like 90% of Jagex updates I will never notice, use, or enjoy as they are mostly new quests that I personally don't care about, or new items I cant be bothered to get or use. Since I started playing there were a few major updates**** + wildy/staking/trade limit, Slayer, Construction, and a few new quests that really made an impact on the game like RFD. But until now this is the 1st big update that I personally will get excited for and back in the mood for this game.

You have to ask yourself one thing. Why are you playing RS. If it's only to pk then I think you should find something else to do. I'm here to work on my skills and do the quests. I wonder if Jagex made a mistake with this idea.
Just so you know I was playing before they changed everything and know what it was like then.
I don't think either side will really win with this vote. I can't wait to see how Jagex handles this.

As a veteran player, I was never concerned with botters. Hell, I didn't really care that people were stupid enough to buy some money. I didn't care, because an occasional annoying bot cutting down my tree didn't affect me directly as much as non free trade and no pking did.
Yes there were bots that wore green pants and had bald heads with a goatee and mustache. But think, did this directly affect you as much as the other disasters? If you think it hurts the economy, you're wrong, because the GE and gravestones have ruined the economy more than anything else. Inflation is disgusting. Pretty soon 1 mil will buy you a sharp stick in the eye.
Runescape gave me the freedom to run my own business. Runescape gave me the freedom to gamble. runescape gave me the adrenaline rush of trying to kill other players even though I always lost my money Pking anyway. And I loved it. If you want a nice safe game without worrying about losing your stuff or getting scammed, then how about you get yourself an xbox so you can save the game before a dangerous spot and don't lose anything. Seriously, Runescape is not about being safe. That's why the veteran players were the only ones wearing barrows. Now everyone wears barrows and it's practically worthless, because NO ONE LOSES THEIR STUFF WHEN THEY DIE.

Haven't played much at all (few minutes logging in and out again) in a long time but this is somewhat interesting I guess. So adamant to fight the cheaters/rl trade yet willing to reap the potential income from players disenchanted with the direction of the game if the wilderness/free trade/old staking/no limits game returns to the old ways. Peak population of the game has become stagnant (haven't increased) from the few times I've visited the site and there's a probable need to push *o increase the player base because it's the multiplier effect with positive word of mouth that's what brings in new players to the game.
Even with the masses voting yes, the pessimist in me says this is all just hype to get people to play again for a few months only to disappoint in implementation. I don't think I've ever seen the minority of players have something changed to their benefit (since the vast majority of players probably don't even care about the wilderness/staking aspect of the game). Maybe I'm wrong; its been a long time.
I've been disappointed before and I don't want to get my hopes up with this movement. I hope it succeeds and comes to fruition, if it's what the players want. Wait and see I guess.
For free trade and old wilderness.

The Poll is not correct...it is a Farce...want proof...I dare you take a Poll in the Game...go mine a star and start the conversation...Everytime I start a conversation on this subject people PLAYING are angry as all get out ....and 1 thing they all agree on is this vote is a Farce!
If they voted correctly it would flip flop!
So go ahead you left over cheaters from 2007 and keep making accounts and voting mega times! An intelligent person knows better!
And the main reason a lot of people quit was because they could not cheat anymore!
