Those that are complaining about merchants, scammers, bots, and RWT, all i have to say is shut up.
While i don't support bots at all, they have always been around, and always will be. How does the bot affect anyone? IT DOESN'T. If anything they kinda help... Bots supply the markets with cheap resources, and as such players trying to gain a 99 skill can do such w/o going broke. I have been playing this game for many years now, and the old rs had very little problems.... Yes scams were bad, but plain and simple... WATCH THE SECOND TRADE SCREEN
For merchants... they have always been a power house sadly, and nothing jagex does can stop them.

Here's a few facts from a player who played from 2005-2007.
Runescape was the biggest MMORPG since BEFORE 2007.
Runescape has lost many players since 2007 (i was honestly shocked when i saw how small the number of players was)
Keeping with the above point Jagex must have lost money since 2007.
A law was passed in 2009 in china making real world trading illegal. That automatically defeats half of the bots out there.
The vast majority against the update are the ones who started post 2007, the vast majority of those in favour are those who joined pre 2007 and have played BOTH pre update and post update.

And lastly a little bit of opinion. Iv played since Runescape Classic, iv seen it all and played it all. I left just after the introduction of trade limits (2007) as in my opinion limiting a users free will in an MMORPG is crippling and a terrible move by Jagex. Luckily it looks like their finally starting to realise this.

I vote yes for the idea, but there are just so many implications to doing something this huge, it would take me hours to list them all..
The players love this, it would be a lot of fun for us to e able to give gifts or whatever we want to do with free trade, and i think the old wilderness is a lot cooler :) and the botters....well botters are just stupid.
I have a lot of mean things to say about botters (that i won't say) but really who cares about them? The only person who is losing from botting is the botter themself. The whole point of runescape is to train the skills and get the levels yourself! So if you bot the whole way, what are you actually doing in runescape? Sure you get the levels, but did you earn them? Of course not! Sorry for being an epic noob, but i have no idea what Rfd is, forgive me :)
Jagex, this is a big decision, but i vote yes definately. Maybe if i knew the full things that were going on, i would reconsider, but my most vital piece of info right here:
A lot of runescape players (including me) are voting yes because only you, knowing runescape, and creating runescape, can know what would truly happen, and what the outcome would be of something this big. I appreciate you consulting the community for a decision, but when it comes right down to it, you have to decide, Jagex.
All I can say is, please make the correct decision :)

Logs went up because of merchants, mage logs were at one point 1k each, even less, but due to merchants they are now... what 1.5k each? With free trade, people that bot (again i dont support) can sell the logs at 1k each, and sell fast.

I agree with Ark and voted Yes on the change,
Why?
BAck in the old days with old wildy you had more fun pking against other unsuspecting preys spreading terror with clans. That's what made Runescape an enjoyable game for young and old!
Runescape also has so much warnings activated at dangereous area's that I don't see any reason to have mercy upon people who choose to ignore them...
So thats wildy!
Free trade was also a key-element in Runescape. You had the choice what you asked and wether or not you could get your junk sold. Putting the price cap on things made the veterans feel they were treated like babies who were told what to do and what to ask for THEIR hard work.
Nowadays RS also has warnings build in the game to warn people when a trade has been ajusted so again people watch the *beep* warnings plz!
So in conclusion I think the game would be returned allot of its old charm without therefore having to be more dangerous (RWT and scam related).
There are so many ways they can give additional information to players without the price cap remaining. for instance they could make the GEX price a guidline so beneath the trade it would just read: "GEX price: xxxxx GP" therefor you don't have to be an einstein to see when your getting overpriced stuff.
Difficult for scammers, yet good for the honest people who want profits since they can check demands to calculate when they can get the desired price for their goods.
