Except when you're creating a new account in a 13 year old game, chances are all the good usernames are taken. Of course no one picks a name they're not happy with on purpose, chances are they're forced to.

I also still don't see how this exclusively applies to new people. By your logic, why should any of us want new names? Shouldn't we be happy with our original names?

The name will stick to him for a month in case he wants to change it back. -so it will be available 28 days after he changed his name. If he chooses to change his name again, then you'll be able to choose the name you wanted.

Example:
Player's original name is "Alpha". He changes it to "Bravo". He technically still owns "Alpha for another 28 days. If he chooses to change from "Bravo" to "Charlie" now, then "Alpha" will be opened up and he will still own "Bravo" for another 28 days.

Sadly I got name jacked, the name wasn't even in the game, and my internet cut out 2 minutes before 8AM (1PM jagex time) and couldn't get it back up in time... so I wound up going through 8 other choices before I came to Gligar -_- (F_$@ You Flareon....)
