I am sure I am not the only person who is still upset about the results of the poll from Dec 10 to Jan 11 (Free Trade/Wildy). I believe that it was not fair, neither of them.
I am not upset about losing the poll, I am upset that it was unfair, and thus inaccurate.
The first poll (running from 21/12/10 to 24/12/10) was merely a petition (because of lack of other choices) and didn't require a ********. This caused people who were in open opposition to this (such as myself) to be counted as support.
The referendum (running from 24/12/10 to 14/1/11) fixed those problems, but still kept others. There were two main problems other than the above:
1) Accounts that could not know first hand about life then could vote and accounts that were created after announcement of the poll could vote, thus allowing rule breakers to create massive quantities of accounts to vote for it.
2)The vote was for both of them. some people would have only wanted one, and not the other.
Solutions to numbered problems:
1) Limit the poll to accounts created before either 10/12/07 (to prevent those who could not have expierenced RuneScape before Trade Limits) OR 21/12/10 (Simply so new accounts wouldn't be created en masse to vote.
2) The referendum should have been as follows:
Free Trade/Wild Referendum
1) Should Free Trade Return?
a) YES!!!
b) I don't care
c) NO!!!
2) Should the old Wilderness Return?
a) YES!!!
b) I don't care
c) NO!!!
Here are my ideas of what should have happened:
Both win: The RuneScape we have today.
Only Wildy wins: The same drops as bounty worlds, but PKing is on all worlds' wildy.
Only Free Trade wins: Trade Limits removed and Revs still control Wildy.
Both lose: Same as before the poll.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant, and I would have been perfectly happy if Free Trade/Wildy had won a poll like the above.

Should runescape make personal inboxes for players to be able to leave each other messages just like Runescape staff is able to leave us message?
A)Yes
B)No
Here is a sample and thier is a thread started about it.
Description of idea: Web-based messaging center that allows communications between players.
Instead of having a "TO:________" field, players may only pick players from a drop menu, which means they are only able to send messages to people on their list. For a name to appear on the drop menu, both players must have each other added.
If Player A has Player B on his/her friend list, but Player B does not have Player A on his/her friend list, then Player B won't appear in Player A's drop menu (or it will be faded and un-clickable.
The number of messages a player can send per day should be limited - 20 perhaps?
I think the main problem here is copyright and space. Implementing a separate message center for players will take up space, and having features to similar to existing mail services might infringe copyright policies.

Regarding the new poll put up today on forum improvements, again, I'm discouraged by the leading option so far being showing how many people are online. Though that may be mildly interesting, it does little to help with the useful functioning of this forum. After all, we can already see how many people are active in a particular forum, and this feature would add very little to that. It seems it's another case of the lead being taken by those who use the forums very little, or not at all, and are unaware of what would make it more useful. :/ (Remembers 'siggies' taking precedence over some way or organising our profile thread lists :/ ) I can't help but think that a forum vote that's only accessible from the forums, would be much a more helpful indication of what *forum users* would actually find useful.
So, any chance of the next poll on forum improvements being put up *ON THE FORUMS* so that only those who know from experience what is likely to make a helpful forum update are likely to vote, instead of on the home page where most people who vote probably use the forums very little if at all?

Please also remove the filter from our siggies Jagex! :)

I'm with you on this one, Treemaid.
I think the fact that the general community can vote in all polls relating to the forums is a bit misleading. I'm not saying they shouldn't have an opinion, don't get me wrong, but these polls are inaccurate measures of how the forum community would vote.

I don't know why anyone is voting for that option - there's already a number of active users. The number of users online wouldn't really add anything to that. And how much do people actually watch the number of active users anyway? never.
In contrast the thread support mechanic would come in much more useful. I don't see how a forum ignore list would work effectively which is why I didn't vote for that, but if it would work that would be effective too. And the thing to quickly view staff posts - well at least people would use that as people do search threads for jmod posts and, while you can already do "&searchuser=Mod Emilee" (for example), this would at least help with that.
It's a bit like the update timer poll - I can't see how anyone who would be affected by the changes in question would vote for the winning option.
