1 question...
Does using Runescape music count as copyright infringement? If so, how can I have permission to use it?

Them asking us to do this competition, aka use RuneScape to make videos, is enough permission to use anything ingame, so yes you should be allowed to use the RS music. :)

Could someone help me with using a microphone to record the voices? I have a microphone but I don't know how to enable and use it on a computer to record.
Second question: Do someone knows a good, free program for editing video's (you know, like camtasia or sony vegas pro, but then free).
Third question: I need one person to act a role in my video, it's only a short part, it won't take long. Of course you would be in the credits then (I know, bad translation :| ).
If you want to help me with one of these things, please PM me on rs. My private chat is always on. You understand that I can't read all posts in this thread to check if there are reactions on this.

Hey!
Hi Danny, long time no speak <3

Could someone help me with using a microphone to record the voices? I have a microphone but I don't know how to enable and use it on a computer to record.
- Yes, you can use Movie Maker for that. It should be allready on your computer. Look in 'Programs'. Yoiu're looking to create a clip and then 'narrate' over it. I do have a free sound recorder, but i'm not sure that I can tell you what it it. Sorry!
Second question: Do someone knows a good, free program for editing video's (you know, like camtasia or sony vegas pro, but then free).
- As sais above, Movie Maker is a good basic editor.
Third question: I need one person to act a role in my video, it's only a short part, it won't take long. Of course you would be in the credits then (I know, bad translation ).
- I can't do that, sorry. :p
Hope this helps! and good luck with your entry.

Just a couple of questions from a Machinima newbie.
1. How can I get rid of the background around a particular item so that it is just that item in the shot? i.e. getting rid of the stuff behind my avatar so that it's just my avatar moving around in the shot.
2. How can I overlap two pieces of footage? i.e. having my avatar moving around on top of shots of Runescape behind my avatar.
I'm using CamStudio 2.0 and Sony Vegas 9, if that helps.

Hi Abezethibod. :)
1. How can I get rid of the background around a particular item so that it is just that item in the shot? i.e. getting rid of the stuff behind my avatar so that it's just my avatar moving around in the shot.
You'll need to use an effect called 'Green Screen'. Head to your Player Owned House and stand your character so that only the background consists of grass. Switch floor decoration to off and then record. Import the clip into Sony Vegas and use an effect called 'Chroma Keyer', and then 'Green Screen.' Modify the effect, click on the colour picker and then click on the green grass.
2. How can I overlap two pieces of footage? i.e. having my avatar moving around on top of shots of Runescape behind my avatar.
Once your Green Screen effect is configured, simply having a layer below this should enable it to show through.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions. :) ¤ §unny Ëarth ¤
