The Battle of Vermillion

The Battle of Vermillion is a recent event in which forces from Burthorpe, and Al-Kharid came together in effort to stop the Phantom Architects, a radical cult devoted to ending the world in fire. Their leader, Oliver Steel, followed a prophecy surrounding the fabled Vault of Infinity and the death of his father, the legendary Voyager. The Voyager was a hero in his time but has since perished at this battle, along with two great dragons in the vault of infinity, and thanks to the efforts of various heroes, the vault was destroyed in the battle, and the phantom architects defeated. During the destruction of the vault and the death of these two dragons, however, a wave of energy was sent across Gielinor reviving individuals from the dead with the magical power of The Sight.

The Void

The Void, other times referred to as the other realm, the shattered realm, sometimes the shadow realm, and even the rift, is a vaguely detailed reality between dimensions, a space in which time and space have no effect. Religions on Gielinor interpret the void differently, with some believing it is where life comes from, others believing it is where the dead go. Dreams and visions are often supposedly said to be in connection with the Void and it is said those who prophesise and conspire with magic or use telepathy are able to tap into a power known as The Sight, which uses the void to create visions.

The Vault of Infinity

The Vault of Infinity was built by a godlike being known as Victorion who came down from Zanaris and created the fields of vermillion and Skipper's Point, a castle, for exhausted humans fighting at the end of the God Wars. Victorion lived among these people and built the vault for them to use, but was killed in his sleep during a mutiny and the vault was sealed by the elected guardian of the vault, who fled, and since then, various battles occured in attempt to open the vault until present day, and the vault's destruction. The Vault of Infinity's entrance portal was built inside Skipper Point's castle whilst the actual vault was a pocket dimension using the energies of the void, from which the power of the sight is thought to have come through - Victorion's creation of the vault was said to be some sort of shield and with it gone, the void is free for more prophecies and magical users to manipulate.

The Death of Guthix

Wizards and witches that are able to tap into the power of the sight will confirm for themselves that Guthix is truly dead and that his edicts are abolished, however, rumours upon the news of his death have spread across the world in a wildfire like fashion. At his death, the world seems to have turned upside down with religious factions across the world coming out of the dark at the return of their Gods; and it's said that in the north from Forinthy, a united faith, an army of combined followers of Gods marches to take control of the south in attempt to bring upon a second God Wars.

The Sight

The Sight is not fully utilised by one single person and is instead a power that many can tap into, though plenty of the visions and illusions given by it can be considered as up to interpretation as users of the sight will recognise glimpses of both the past and future in their dreams.

The world of Zanaris, Gielinor's moon, and it's said inhabitants, are said to have a connection with the void like no other race, with Zanaris said to be closer to the void than any other place, the fairies have spent generations researching the powers and implications of the sight and so have developed a strong soceity, masters of prophecy, dreams, prediction, and time. Changelings are said to be half human and half fairy but with more mystical powers offered from the void, and only select beings are able to fully realise the power of the sight, whilst others turn insane at the visions they recieve.

The Wizard's Tower

The Wizards Tower, one of the best Magic Schools in the world. But at one time, it was also the most troublesome. 22 Years ago the school operated more like a guild than a school, taking on jobs and causing a ruckus. Once the Magic Council stepped in, the Tower was remodeled to what it is today. Under the current Grand Archmage, the Tower offers a multitude of classes on magic and magical creatures, the Tower offers a safe place to study and train a mages talent.

The students are organized into five groups according to their magic style, called schools. Each school is based on an elemental type and headed by an Archmage. The Archmages teach classes on magic to the members of their school, but also teach more broad classes to the majority. But like many schools, there are multiple classes taught by different teachers. The teachers of the Tower are called Preceptors.

Like other schools, the Tower is allowed to send students out on jobs, but these jobs are small and local, giving no threat of serious harm (Or embarrassment) to the Council. But even under the close eye of the Council, the Tower still holds secrets.

Roe Umbra is the preceptor of fire magic.

The Magic Council

While mostly considered one and the same, the Magic Council is made up of the five strongest and most respected of the guilds mages. The Guild and Council are located in the city of Yanille on the southern border of Kandarin. The Council was started by the Magic Guild in order to reign in control of the magic community. Because the Guild was the largest organization within the community, no one could oppose them. While each school has a representative to the council, smaller guilds do not, and thus cannot voice concerns to the Council. But even the representatives hold so little sway, being nothing more than a formality.

The Guild is nothing more than a puppet of the Council, teaching mages and carrying out any order they give with joy, and consider themselves the greatest group out of the other schools and guild.

In order to keep control of the mages, some theorize than any who speak against the council are sent to secret prisons, or executed, due to a few mysterious disappearances of individuals and entire guilds. The Council, obviously, denies that such prisons exist. But one can never be too sure...

Within the last few years, Connor Hathaway proposed the creation of the Hex Breakers, an elite classification of mage given the authority of the council. The Council viewed this as a means to spread their influence around the world, so the agreed and placed Connor in charge of the newly established Hexer Division.

In order to undergo Hexer Trials, a mage must be 16 years old and upon passing the first trial are no longer allowed to be a member of a guild, owing their allegiance to the Guild.

The Grand Exchange

The Grand Exchange or simply the Exchange is a global bank and trading web; so many companies in the simplest of trades across Gielinor report to the grand exchange, they are an incredibly trusted source of wealth and power though many are unaware completely of it's significance. Almost every city is in some form of debt to the exchange and though the lack any kind of standing army or a royalty their strength is in numbers, both of coin and members. Exchange members are those who represent the bank and it is rare for one to reveal himsef as one - most are vastly rich and the general idea of the exchange was to establish a fair trade of equality across the country of Misthalin. The Grand Exchange serves all, and it cannot be decieved or tricked as the exchange members are simply masters of mathematics, able to track so much, they are never fooled.

The Grand Exchange was founded after their main bank in Varrock grew incredibly quick at the birth of the Misthalin civil war a couple of decades ago and has thanks to it's intelligent members, established a reputation of control over the country, though it is said the exchange desires nothing more than to see a rule of equality, it will take no part in the wars beyond allowing trade across Gielinor. The exchange has banks everywhere and it's members are in every city, every council meeting, and are incredibly secretive men known to be avenged if they are ever killed.
