Deep underneath Eastern Falador lives a dangerous beast. Invisible to the naked eye, this creature destroys the very land you stand on! Some say its claws can tear through steel, others say its teeth can chew through a boulder and some say it’s as big as a house!

For years a bounty has been placed on the mythical creature and yet no one has slain the beast. It has been responsible for the destruction of parks and buildings in the Eastern district of Falador and was also responsible for unearthing the Ashkuz Golem. Who could stop this mysterious behemoth?

Until recently the damage of East Falador has stopped. No more roads have been torn up and no buildings have been buried. Something has happened to the beast and no one has claimed its bounty. A party chosen by the Lord Regent will be responsible for investigating the creature’s tunnels in search for what happened to it.

A squad has been chosen to explore the Giant Mole’s tunnels in search for the mythical creature. The aim of this role-play is to investigate it’s tunnels to find out what happened to it before reporting back to the Lord Regent.

Detail of Event:

Lord Australis began the briefing with the squad at the Eastern Falador Square. Emergency teleports were distributed and the squad was split up between Mercenaries, White Knights, Partisans and Mages.

Lord Australis moved the troops to Falador Park. Falador Park was on lockdown over the last 12 hours. Members of the squad descended down into the Giant Mole’s tunnels.

The first, central chamber was filled with holes and boulders, each boulder was the same shape as the holes suggesting they were torn out of the ground and used in earth spells. Rouge roots penetrated out of the ground, spearing several Giant Mole pups. The mole pups appeared to have been fleeing from whatever assaulted the Giant Mole. Primitive nature/Bandosian magic was detected leading the squad to assume it could have been a goblin or hobgoblin.

The second north-eastern room showed a filled in hole, suggesting the Giant Mole had tried escaping from the aggressor. The walls of this chamber were charred from fire magic. Palm leaves were found to have been mixed into soil, being identified by Lysan as a Karamjan plant. The use of fire magic and nature magic leads the group to suggest it was a chaos druid or witch doctor. A sample of the palm leaf was sent to the Society’s Keep.

The third south-eastern chamber was littered with large strands of spider silk that radiates anima. Holes made by spider fangs also litter the walls and ground. These holes are hooked, start at 55cm in circumference at the surface and decrease in size the deeper the hole went. The room itself was filled with dark necromantic tribal energy of a Broodoo origin which leads the party to assume a Karamjan Witch Doctor is responsible. The WKs and Mercenaries slit off to ensure the other chambers are clear of any aggressors. Lysan’s projection is lost as he loses connection from the Keep.

The fourth south-west chamber was untouched. The White Knights and Mercenaries were ambushed by a swarm of Giant Mole pups who were territorial. The mages caught up to the WKs after gaining a sample of spider silk and send to the Society’s Keep.

The final chamber located at the north-west of the Mole’s lair was littered with corpses similar to the undead that invaded Rimmington. The Giant Mole has broken out of its tunnel, collapsing the wall behind it. Lord Australis was able to detect Ogre Mind Control magic leading the party to assume the culprit was a Joger Witch Doctor who had either taken control of the Giant Mole or it as slain and reanimated the creature.


Actions Taken:

Sage Australis, Princess Lansing and (Lysan) analysed difference magical signals, determining them to be a mixture of primitive Bandosian magic, Broodoo magic, necromancy, Jogre Shaman mind-control and raw anima energy. They’ve determined that the culprit is a Joger Shaman from Karamja who uses a mixture Broodoo and Ogre Shaman magic to reanimate the dead.
The WKs and Mercenaries fought of a swarm of aggressive baby giant moles. The moles were slaughtered with Mr. Accando receiving a bite to his arm.
Samples of Karamjan Palm Leaves and Anima-infused spider silk were taken to the Sorcerer’s Keep .

Summary:

The Giant Mole is MIA, likely under the control of the Joger Shaman. It is unknown if it’s undead or simply under the Joger’s mind control.
A giant spider, warped by anima, is also under the control by the Joger. It’s silk and holes made by its fangs litter one of the chambers.
The Joger is capable of Bandosian nature magic, geomancy and pyromancy. Broodoo necromancy and Ogre Shaman mind control.
Mr. Accando was injured – received a bite to the arm.

Rumours would spread claiming that the Lord Regent’s group were the ones responsible for the extermination of Falador’s Giant Mole.
Everyone hired by the government to investigate the Mole Lair were paid 2,000 coins for their services.
Any contracted White and Temple Knights were paid 1,500 coins and were given a supply of portents of healing.
Everyone who was contracted to investigate the tunnels signed a contract of disclosure and were forbidden to tell anyone about the current Broodoo threat.

A religious insurrection was triggered in East Falador, with many peasants angry about church corruption. Naturally, with something against the existing Asgarnian Church, pro-Rectorate forces come out of the woodwork to suggest an alternate option.

The Peasants demand change, and demand it now. They are peaceful for now, but how long can that last?

Part Two will continue the same time Thursday, dealing with the aftermath of this portest.
