You make it sound as if we're to blame for most of this? I mean none of us have been particularly perfect to each other, but we are still roleplaying. If you're imagining some sort of Utopian idea where everyone is at least amicable, I'm afraid you'll be waiting a long time, maybe even forever.

I've always tried to remain as neutral or friendly to everyone on 42, even with some of the less... lets say unpopular folks, just because that's me, but unfortunately some people cannot let things go. Which I think is a point you are making, but it's very much "fool me once..." but they don't get to the point of "fool me twice".

I sort of agree with you on this point, we've never really warmly welcomed new people, if anything a lot of people will assume it's someone's alt that they're trying to use to "spy" on them or something as ridiculous as that. I will agree also with the fact there are some people who would likely be good tutors and I'd volunteer for that since I've had nearly 10 years of experience, but I don't want to commit my free time to searching for noobs to come roleplay. especially if they see this thread and decide not to.

We have our egos, it's just a handful of people have egos that are bigger than people like myself.

In any case, I hope you don't think I'm part of the problem, since I've sort of explained my stance.

I think thats a very important thing to realize. I'm not perfect either, nor is a very vast majority of anyone in the community. It's something easily looked over.

Well... unless they're posting rubbish on daku's thread.

If my guess is correct then there's a fair chance you wouldn't know them even on their main account and they certainly have no "side" in our little feud.

As to the suggestion itself, wouldn't it be nice if we could all be nice to each other? Yes in a land where the castles are made of gingerbread and the moats are filled with blackberry wine. There have always been people who dislike each other on W42, that's how we got here in the first place.

I think a slightly revised version, one based on agreed upon arbitration of IC disputes and a certain amount of grudging respect might be a more useful compromise? We don't all have to be friends to get to a point where we are able to roleplay with each other and acknowledge one another's ideas.

And I'm not saying it will be easy. I've certainly seen, heard or been told of real world issues that have made me question my willingness to RP with certain individuals. Not that refusing to RP with someone is a particularly effective sanction but it is rather awkward to continue doing so in that situation.

So my recommendation is not to all start liking each other. It's a vague goal and probably won't happen until long after you take this first step (if at all). Start by seeking out a person or a group or even a whole community that you currently don't feel able to RP with and sit down with them and talk about ways to fix that. Not easy I know but to borrow an old quote:

If this person has hope that W42 can/will change their ways he/she can at least give W42 a chance to forgive and forget don’t you think? Not easy I know but to borrow an old quote:

The identity of the person doesn't matter. It's even said in the thread that it doesn't matter, because it completely distracts from the point they're making. Eli's making the assertion it's someone from "my side". No, it's not. I imagine that because it's speaking negatively of the "other side" too, that whoever it is is using an alt to escape being ostracized because of it.

I respect and appreciate the sentiment of the thread, but I've got to disagree with the bulk idea being presented. Big post coming later on today, just wanted to add in after Croco's comment. Their actual identity doesn't matter. This is an alt account of someone in the RP scene and they're speaking out. That's the important thing. If the identity of the person didn't matter when Warden was applying to your Super Sticky, Lozz, this person's identity doesn't matter here.

Take the message. Agree or disagree. But don't sweep it all aside to try and figure out who they are so you can figure out if they're biased. The Sicarius |
