Varrock - Intro

When King James took over this city, the previous ruler had left and the city had fallen into a pit of corruption so deep that many believed it would never be redeemed. Now that a new ruler has arrived and replaced several of the top officials with trusted men, drawn from the ranks of his former warband people are asking themselves if he can actually wrest the capitol from the grip of the crime gangs. Suffice to say that he has a challenge ahead of him.

In the absence of any real leadership the lower city has fallen into chaos. Territory is divided up between the Black Arm, Pheonix and Others gangs, which use it to set up protection rackets and control the local drug trade, ownership of an area means ownership of the customers within it and that means additional revenue.

In the Upper city, some semblance of normality remains especially now that the new regime is in place. This area was least affected by the gangs and so remains reasonably productive and for many, the only face of Varrock that is presented to outside merchants and investors. Beneath this facade however it is widely believed (if unproven) that these districts of the city survived by because many of them were the real influencers behind the gangs themselves, proving financial backing and even (if the rumors are to be believed) direct leadership. Varrock - The Knights

With so many of the traditional Guardsmen of Varrock having been bribed bought by the gangs, King James has been forced to deploy his trusted Knights to police the city. In addition to this the Knights act as the core of Misthalin's army in times of war.

The ranks and uniforms of the Knights are as follows:

Green Knights

Low ranks (Steel, studded leather):

Adamant chainbody, adamant med-helm, adamant platelegs, adamant sq shield

Varrock - Locations

Varrock Palace - The main administrative hub for the current regime. This is where the King and the Hand of the King reside, where the King holds court and hosts international visitors. It also servers as the primary headquarters of the Royal Guard, containing barracks, training grounds and cells to hold prisoners in prior to be transferred to a jail cell (empty rooms on the west side of the palace on the ground floor will be used for this purpose).

The Grand Exchange - Exists as the main forum for trade both within the Kingdom and in fact Internationally since there is no other construction quite like it in the human world. As the saying generally goes, if you can’t buy it or sell it at the Grand Exchange then it probably isn’t worth owning anyway.

West Varrock Bank - The largest, oldest and most well established financial institution in Misthalin. Investment of vital importance to influential individuals from across the world are handled here which makes its security paramount to ensure the reputation of the bank and the kingdom as a whole.

East Varrock Bank - A smaller, more humble bank than the West Varrock Bank but one that is still internationally recognized for its significant contribution.

East Varrock Church - The large church in east Varrock has been converted by the state into both a Church of Armadyl and a courtroom where justice is carried out under the watchful eye of their god. For any criminals foolish enough to get caught, this is where they can expect to face final Judgement.

Varrock - Locations (cont)

Black Arm Gang stronghold - The location of the Headquaters of the Black Arm gang is one of the worst kept secrets in Varrock. A large, proud and highly obvious structure, it has managed somehow to become a building of historical significance within the city. Quite why King James or any of his predecessors have not simply had the building destroyed has never been fully explained but perhaps the simplest answer is this: If the Black Arm falls completely, so does the city.

Pheonix Gang stronghold - Unlike the Black Arm, the Pheonix Gang does not flaunt the location of its headquarters to the rest of the city. Instead it is kept discrete, hidden away and knowledge of it is only entrusted to a few.

Varrock - Organizations (non criminal)

The Blue Moon Inn

Perhaps the oldest and most well known drinking establishment in Varrock. While not as infamous as the Rising Sun Inn in Falador it is nevertheless on the border of the Black Arm and Pheonix gangs territory. Forecast for this pub is: High probability of shady character with a slight chance of all out gang warfare.

The Black Arm Gang

After their headquaters were destroyed and their leadership fled the city, the Black Arm gang has changed considerably as a group. Those that remain are now acutely aware that the main hub of their operation is in Karamja, with their holdings in Varrock existing mainly for revenue generation and the group's attitude reflects this.

The Pheonix Gang

By contrast to the Black Arm Gang, the Pheonix have always focused on less “conventional” means of raising income. Their most well known sidelines are in weapon smuggling and contract assassinations which is part of why they have been labeled as a particularly brutal, vicious gang. Controlling less territory than the Black Arm forces them to act towards their territory with a ruthless and sometimes even sadistic approach (which varies from captain to captain). In combat the Pheonix has a number of highly skilled contract killers that have proven devastatingly effective against larger groups of enemies.

The Others Gang

Edgeville - Intro

Someone, somewhere once thought it was a good idea to build a settlement right on the edge of the Wilderness. To this day we do not know who he was, how the mob found and finally killed him or where exactly they buried the body. Regardless, this settlement servers as the final outpost of civilization before you reach the vast, ruined, terrifying wilderness that is the Kingdom of Forinthry. As such the inhabitants of this area have had to grow accustomed to raids from various Forinthry tribes that the so called “King Pyro” allows to come south to take desperately needed supplies.

With war against Forinthry both impractical and potentially suicidal for a multitude of reasons there appears to be nothing to be done but to try and fight off these invaders when they come and occasionally pursue the worst of them into the Wilds in order to root them out and destroy them. Expeditions setting out from here are rare but not unheard of. "The greatest endeavors are achieved because of their selfless intent"

Edgeville - Locations

Edgville Guard House - This building has seen better days but it still acts as the headquaters for the Royal Guard in Edgeville. From here defense against marauding northern invaders is coordinated.

Edgeville Prison - Located just south of the main settlement this is the main prison that criminals can be expect to be sent to if they are found guilty at the courthouse. Conditions are considered to be fairly grim which leads some inmates to dream of an early release...
