The Amddiffynnwr Uchel

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel is the royal guard of the Telemmaitë family. Armed to the teeth with crystal weaponry, mithril gear and fierce loyalty to the family; they have a homogeneous elven heritage, especially reinforced since the coup of Queen Blodwyn at Camelot over half a decade earlier.

Historically the Amddiffynnwr Uchel was founded by then-Viscount Nolfinwë, after realizing his political agenda was not met or fulfilled by mere bodyguards and levies. Therefore,
he hand-picked a few dozen troops from his barracks, and commissioned them with sets of similar mithril armour. From then on, the Amddiffynnwr Uchel were renowned for being well-experienced over the hundreds of years of their lifetimes, and had spent much of that lifetime acquiring and maintaining the best gear they could.

At the peak of their power, the Amddiffynnwr Uchel had members in actual seats of governing power within Camelot, as a couple of Knights of the Round Table. By that point,
their numbers had escalated from some fifty starting, to several hundred on active duty.
However, when King Nolfinwë passed on the crown to Queen Blodwyn, they began to cease growing in number, as her reign turned peaceful.

The night the castle was assualted by couping soldiers, the bulk of the Amddiffynnwr Uchel was stationed inside, resting as many had not been on active, foreign duty in well over a month. When the gates were opened, the guards instinctively sprang into action-
but they found themselves quickly overwhelmed by the hundreds of fast-approaching human soldiers, bent on tearing down the aging, elven tyrannical monarchy.

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel (Cont.)

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel didn't falter, despite the odds- they stayed true to their masters' will, and their duty to protect the Queen. She was evacuated by teleports early on, however the guard was scattered and not all of them could be evacuated. In a last stand, many fought for their lives in scattered groups; slaughtering two-for-one of every human that stood against them. One group even made an effort to bring the castle down on the attackers- and nearly succeeded. An entire tower was brought down near the gate- but it was not enough to stem the flood.

By the time the dawn rose, a rebellion's flag flew over the crumbling walls, and Tommen Calderon would soon enough seize power over the rebels and make himself King of Camelot. The Amddiffynnwr Uchel had put up a fight, but had utterly been crushed-
their numbers dwindling from nearly three hundred in the fighting, to a little less than fifty.
Those who survived, sought refuge with Duke Kywel in the Southerlands, Countess Tailynn in Baxtorian or Nolfinwë; now in exile on the isle of Lythel.

Nearly five years after the events that unfolded at Camelot, Nolfinwë saw the need for a stronger Amddiffynnwr Uchel, and reformed the guard; partly comprised of his best soldiers from the recent war effort, and partly from former veterans who survived in hiding.
Now reformed under a new hierarchy, they plan to fulfill their former duties to their leadership, and continue the legacy their predecessors left them.

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel (Cont.)

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel is divided up into a short, simplistic hierarchy; with rising ranks often getting access to better supplied armour by the kingdom's treasury. The system, translated from rough elvish to common, is as follows:

Grandmaster - Uwchfeistr;

The Uwchfeistr is the head of the Amddiffynnwr Uchel, reporting directly to the King or other presiding patriarch/matriarch of the Telemmaitë. He/she usually does not enter field situations, however having risen to such a rank usually means the one in this position isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.

Captain - Capten;

Captens are leaders of vast divisions of the Amddiffynnwr Uchel, and the heads of complex operations that may require even the direct approval of the King. They adhere only to the word of the Uwchfeistr, and are generally assigned a Raglaw or two to keep them in check.

Lieutenant - Raglaw;

Raglaw are Grisial Gards that have shown themselves to be capable in roles of leadership above what is required for a status of a soldier, yet not effective enough as a leader to jump into a position of power beside the Uwchfeistr. They are often serving as subordinates to Captens.

Crystal Guard - Grisial Gard;

Those with the status of Grisial Gards are the most experienced troops in the guard. They have often assumed positions of power or command, and understand how to work with people. They also receive an improved uniform from the regular equipment, and are eligible for many newer, more complex missions at the head of them.

Sergeant Elite - Elitaidd Rhingyll;

Elitaidd Rhingyll are experienced Rhingyll, who are just lacking in some necessary skill to assume the role and status of Grisial Gard.

Sergeant - Rhingyll;

The Rhingyll are the more experienced guards within the company, having learned their place and being more capable of difficult situations and missions; earning a step up above Gorfforol.

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel (Cont.)

(Promotion only from Cymorth) Elite Support - Elitaidd Cymorth;

The Elitaidd Cymorth are supporting units that have the experience and qualifications necessary to be promoted to a better role as a teacher, or superior in the field.

(Branch-off from Gorfforol) Support - Cymorth;

A Cymorth's duty is to act in a consistently supporting role when in fielded combat situations. They are healers, priests/priestesses and interrogators. Cymorths can't advance much farther in rank when moving into this branch, so most try to veer away from taking it on.

Corporal - Gorfforol;

A Gorfforol is the rank at which members of the guard receive their first uniform; though simple as it may be in nature, it symbolizes they are now full-fledged members of the unit. It also paves the way for applicants to ascend to a different branch; a support branch. This is also the rank at which guards earn their uniform.

Recruit First Class - Recriwtio Posibl;

A Recriwtio Posibl is simply put, a Recriwtio who has the potential to remain in the guard, without being kicked out; but has some training to go before he or she can be accepted into the more experienced ranks.

Recruit - Recriwtio;

Recriwtios are unequipped, recent applicants to the guard. They were accepted and are often given borderline suicide missions to prove their loyalty and experience, so they can be given appropriate placement and position to suit their skills.

The Amddiffynnwr Uchel also has a set of uniforms most the rank of Gorfforol and above wear.
The uniform is expected to be worn while on ceremonial guard duty and in formations while in battlefield scenarios.
(On an OOC note: I supply all of my role-players with the uniforms for free when they reach the rank necessary to use the equipment.)

The Kingdom of Hynafiaid is a unique kingdom, in that it does not follow traditional boundaries or borders that kingdoms before it used to have. It does not fall under the title of the 'Kingdom of Camelot' or the 'Kingdom of Ardougne'; it is an entirely new entity. Because of this, the lands it encompasses are split up into many feudalistic, heavily nepotistic land grants for better centralization of government.

The Kingdom is split into three duchies- The Duchy of Iliara, the Duchy of Kantor and the Duchy of Deheuol Tiroedd. The Duchy of Deheuol Tiroedd serves as the capitol duchy- the crownlands- ruled as the demesne of King Nolfinwë. Within the duchies are many counties,
viscounties and baronies; those that have been developed upon will be listed in the following posts.

The Duchy of Deheuol Tiroedd

Major settlements: Hailawën (Capitol), Keep La Faye

The Duchy of Deheuol Tiroedd is the crownlands duchy of the Kingdom of Hynafiaid. The only duchy populated by a majority of elves, it is also the smallest duchy; its borders only stretching to encompass two counties- the County of Hailawën and the County of La Faye.
The duchy notably includes the only major port on the east coast of the kingdom- Keep La Faye- and is covered in dense woods, guarding the capitol from attacks on its north and southern guards.

Smaller encampments and settlements of elves exist within the duchy, and though often times they rarely make much influence in the kingdom, they serve to bring in resources from the local woodlands back into the wealthy, walled city of stone that is Hailawën.

County of Hailawën

The capitol of the elven kingdom, this city of stone walls is the largest settlement of elves east of Arandar. Housing Telemmaitë Manor, the city not only acts as a trade conduit for goods from Hemenster to La Faye, but also acts as a secure place of refuge for the royal family when a crisis occurs.

(Occupied by King Nolfinwë [Bloxzor])

County of La Faye

The only coastal county on the eastern shore of Hynafiaid, La Faye acts as a major conduit for goods flowing in from Asgarnia and even further east into the elven kingdom- as well as a decent fortress for spotting against enemy landings.

(Occupied by the Arens [Vynri Aren])

The Duchy of Kantor

Major settlements: Baxtorian Falls (Capitol), Hemenster, Fort Aegis

The center of the kingdom, one might think this would be the capitol duchy, given the wealth of trade that flows through it. Straddling Lake Hemenster, the duchy contains a variety of scenery- from the shanty fishing capitol of Hemenster itself, to the Serenist holy site of Baxtorian Falls; the duchy attracts many visitors with opportunities for men and elves alike.

(Occupied by Duchess Tailynn [Lianna98])

County of Baxtorian Falls

The resting place of Queen Glarial and a holy site for many elves, this key point in Baxtorian's former empire is now the capitol of the elven-held duchy. Spanning from the waterfall itself across the southern hills and plains, it enjoys relative isolation and safety that much of the rest of the kingdom does not enjoy, being squeezed inbetween multiple major powers.

County of Hemenster

Traditionally the capitol duchy of the region, now lacking its former significance now under elven lordship still shares a close border and historical tie with Fort Aegis; which helps to keep the citizens happy and feeling safe, a fair distance from Hailawën. The county enjoys wealth of trade routes from Lake Hemenster to the Kingdom of Ironfalls in the isles north of the elven kingdom.

(Occupied by noone)

Duchy of Iliara

Major Settlements: Piscatoris (Capitol)

The Duchy of Iliara is a duchy only by heritage by House Le'Gaunt. Otherwise, it could be better classified as a territory. Having very few major settlements beyond a fishing colony in the north that serves as a capitol for the region, it's mostly a wide expanse of land divided into several counties; including chunks of Arandar. In cooperation with the elves from Prifddinas, King Nolfinwë has maintained an unspoken rule of not trespassing on the rights of Prifddinian elves living in that region so long as they don't try to cause trouble for his own kingdom.

(Occupied by noone)

County of Piscatoris

Serving as the capitol for the vast duchy, Piscatoris is a capitol marked by past problems with troll invaders and an economy limited to fishing, with little outside interaction. It's far from the rest of the duchy, and as a result generally lets the rest of the duchy's counts or countesses get along with some degree of autonomy.

County of Tirhela

A vast, open range of nearly untamed wilderness; Tirhela is only remarkable for its combat academy used by reserve forces for training and the watchtower used to keep an eye on its southern contenders. It does share a significant border with the gnomish stronghold, but they interact very little.

(Occupied by noone)

County of Arandar

The largest features of Arandar happen to be a small outpost also used in joint efforts with the County of Tirhela's to watch for the threat of a southern invasion, and the pass used by Prifddinian Elves and Hailawënite Elves to exchange supplies and information between the worlds east and west of the mountains. The Count or Countess here is often influenced by the word of the elders in Prifddinas, serving with more autonomy as opposed to the rest of Hynafiaid's centralized realm.
