Exhausted after his first day on the King's Guard Duty both physically and mentally, Mounty finally slides into his bed, listening to the arguments and songs being sung at the pub across the street as he considered his day. He'd come a long way in a short time, bouncing from petty street thief, to jail, to The King's Training Grounds and finally to The King's Guard Duty all in a few months. Being the youngest member of the Guard certainly didn't make his duties any easier, as he found himself routinely picked on by older guard members and was frustrated to once again be treated like a child amongst men, particularly at the hands of Captain Thompson, who seemed to openly despise everyone and everything. Still, he had survived his first shift on the King's Guard, remarking at the King's surprising fraility and noting his cruelty, chuckling that it probably wasn't the best duo for a long and fruitful reign. "Just keep your head down and get through the day," Mounty told himself, "and maybe the pompous pricks will forget about you eventually"
