Not bad material. I'll finish reading through it in a bit. For now, though...

I have found 45° cuts acceptable (in some cases) in executing a more powerful hew when speed is less of an issue due to the availability of morte-striking as a suitable counter.

That and for the first ten to fifteen seconds I had no damn clue what you meant by "Hidden Strikes". Then you mentioned Liechtenauer and I thought of the Meisterhäue. Do you get out into the Italian school, or are you primarily concerned with the Germanic school of fencing?

Edit: Nupe, never mind, just got into the Italian guards. You seem to like a few of them.

Due to my partly German heritage, I'm more concerned with the German school of fencing. I originally considered releasing a simple guide that focused on the Italian school while giving the Sicarius both the German and Italian, but it really just turned into using both a degree, and giving that.

EDIT: Didn't pick that up about 45° allowing more power, though I had the information to make that conclusion earlier. *Feels special, but glad to have made a connection (with help) and learned something new.*

EDIT: I'm releasing at least one more tomorrow, maybe all three of the remaining guides. Less adapted from their original versions, but still holding information I hope the community finds useful.

I'm not as fond of the ARMA as I should be. As far as criticism goes, you left out some concepts relating to compound attacks, differences between specific counters and their desired effects, and the like. I know you could have expanded feints to showcase compound attacks that draw out multiple reactions from the opponent ;) Otherwise, a bit hard to understand for a novice or everyday reader, but a great overall introduction guide to the wonderful world of longsword work.

Yeah, I originally wasn't sure how to multiple feints to the Sicarius at the time, so I didn't include it.

I probably shouldn't have released this guide first, as it was the third I made for the Sicarius, and part of the information that's hard to understand for the audience you described is explained in those threads.

I'm off to eat breakfast, and then I'll get back and see if I can sneak in another guide.

I personally thank you for making this thread, my White Knight has been using basic concepts of fencing, as I myself wasn't too informed of how to do it. With this guide though, it makes things a whole lot easier for me to roleplay using a fencing style, and for that, thank you.

These guides need to be on the wiki.

More roleplayers know of the forums than the wiki, and I intend to keep these off the wiki for now - mostly because while the wiki has lots of information, it is quickly edited to being of lower quality and less accuracy than it first was.
