The Varangain Guard

The warrior elite of the Fremmenik and the Winter Throne. The Varangains are Fremmenik men and women that have pledged their lives in front of V to protect and serve the Winter Throne. Functioning much like a Royal Guard, the Varangain Guard also acts as the Elite Force of the Fremmenik Raiding forces and Armies.

Funded directly by the crown, they are dressed in steel and wield large shields alongside the honored axe. The Varangains would be able to shift the tide of a battle by their mere appearance and the sound of their war horns.

The Valkyries of V

With V the center point of the Fremmenik Religion and the Valkyries the honored warrior women of the Fremmenik Culture, the Valkyries of V are the female religious warriors of the God. Lead by a Warpriestess that answers to the Winter Throne, the Valkyries of V act as priestess in the times of peace and in war, the very spirit of the dead.

Only female and the most spiritually motivated can become a Valkyrie of V.

The Bannermen

Using a more Southern model in recent years, the Northern Lords swear fealty to the Winter Throne. In return, the Jarls and Thanes pledge their men-at-arms as the main fighting force of the Fremmenik. From raiding the South to large scale wars, the Nobility supply the largest amount of troops and supplies for military campaigns.

Trying to field a large permanent Army would be too costly to an already poor Kingdom.

The Iron Fleet

The Iron Fleet makes up the Kingdom of Rellekka direct fleet. While the Jarls and Lords might have their own smaller fleets for protection of their own lands or fishing, the Iron Fleet is directly funded by the Crown for the protection of Northern waters, protecting trade routes, fishing spots and above all else, raiding.

Whilst the Winter Throne holds the title of Admiral of the Iron Fleet, they might name a trusted noble to lead the Iron Fleet and see to it's day to day running. A position that is thought as a prized title.

Most of the Iron Fleet is made of the traditional Northern Longboat. With the slowly building and buying of more modern ships and canons to come with time. To be without a such modern fleet compared to the likes of the Southern Kingdoms put the Fremmenik at a disadvantage on the sea. But with the build of Longboats, allows the Fremennik to sail up and down river where regular large war boats can not.
