The day was cold, cloudy and bleak when the two armies met. So as the scribe Annabelle would go on to describe, the host of the rebels had poured out of their hold in the Bishophric to meet the force of Camelite troops that far outnumbered them, and would go on to massacre them in the fighting ahead.
When Glaerun- the commander of the Camelite forces- succeeded in defeating the rebel forces, he ordered the Bishophric burnt, its belongings seized, and the thousands of people inside- all family members, women and children, of the zealots whom had died in the fighting just a few hours earlier, to be captured and held prisoner for the judgement of the King.
A letter was discreetly transferred from the King's throne room, as well, to the guards holding the prisoners up later that night.
By morning, the population of the Duchy of the Southerlands was near-wiped out, save for the elves of Hailawën and the County of La Faye.
In addition to the events of the rebellion, King Nolfinwë went on to hold a congregation of many of his family members in Hailawën the night after. In an unexpected turn of events, Nolfinwë openly proclaimed that he would give up his crown and throne to his cousin, Glaerun. After an entire decade of war and peace, finally, the days of King Nolfinwë the Tyrant were over.
In the weeks to come, Nolfinwë made himself lord over the Duchy of the Southerlands, and transferred vassalage of Hailawën to the duchy, then making it the capital of the region, where he would reign on for however long he could. The coronation of King Glaerun would be planned soon enough.
Life goes on.
