Currently I am probing alternative means of putting boots on the ground, so to speak. Hobgoblins are highly capable skirmishers, best used for hit-and-run tactics. Destroying enemy supply routes, depots, and roads, and harassing marching formations in order to slow them down or divert them, rather than directly engaging, are suggested. Since they reproduce quickly, I find them to be very much akin to goblins, with one remarkable exception; A distinct lack of cowardice. Capable of foraging on the enemy (literally, as I've directly observed them eating slain opponents), in ways and conditions that most humans are incapable of, or unwilling to do, I believe they will outlast any human forces in the wild. All it would require is a strong, singular presence to command them, with a suggested ratio of one to every hundred, in terms of capable men commanding these beasts. As they are naturally submissive to the most dominant individual, they may even be trusted to return of their own volition. I believe the Bandosians called this a "warparty".

A letter would arrive for His Majesty...

Your Majesty,
My name is Nicolas de Vauman. Upto the moment I write now, I was a initiate in the Silver Temple. But now as this ink dries onto parchment, I am now branded as both coward and traitor by the callous “knights” who raised me from the dirt and trained me, for showing compassion and mercy to those who had walked a unrighteous path unwillingly.
You might have limited knowledge about the Silver Temple. They remained purposely secluded since the formation of modern Asgarnia itself, when the extremis of the Ordo Templi Saradomin split away to become independent of the state’s political influence. Those who remained became your Temple Knights.
But they cannot be considered warriors of the faith anymore. Without any figurehead to restrain the temple, a series of religious zealots have command the temple into constant crusades against any small population who did not adhere absolutely to the Book of Order. To them, the smallest infraction often begets public execution.
No more.
I may have been trained to kill the enemies of Saradomin with precision and guile, but that does not make me compliant in the butchery they expect me to perform in a senseless campaign,to those with already peaceful convictions. Such violence just begets further violence, and is no path to the peace and order that our Lord desires.
I, therefore, formerly renounced the oath I took for the Silver Temple and have abjured their influence forever. Now, I beg for you to grant me asylum in the Kingdom of Asgarnia, and an opportunity to serve under you in the more clandestine motions of statecraft.
I expect to be arriving within your domain by the time this letter arrives to you in Falador. I can only hope now that you will accept my plea.
Yours Faithfully,
Nicolas de Vauman.

As voted for by the Asgarnian discord server, today we held some combat roleplay! Much like what I did with the White Knights of Falador some time back, I pit people against each other and observed their styles, helping me build a better case for teaching them individually in the future. Below are the evals of those who attended on such short notice, for recording purposes.
Nicolaus de Vauman
This one's interesting. Turned up offering to be a clandestine assassin of sorts. Efficient, restrained fighter with a knack for swordlocking, prioritizes the parrying dagger as an offense with the mainhand sword as defense and distraction. Very composed, which can prove weakness, acting on pure logic can be fooled and misguided. Future lessons will likely be having him lower the emotional barriers some, and to do more than weave in and out of sword locks. Baits and hit-and-runs would be an effective style.

The opposite, here. She's focused less on the dagger, using it as a surprise tool, while focusing on her mainhand sword. Tends to let the others lead the fight and taking openings when they present themselves, though she quickly dropped the pretense of the sparring when the possibility of her sword breaking came up. Will have to teach her how to control her temper in battle, at least for sparring, so she doesn't resort to verbal threats and cease all combat. Probably has a killer headbutt, should teach her to grapple through a swordlock.

Powerful mage, no doubt, but effectively worthless in melee vs a trained warrior. Telegraphing all of her attacks, jump strikes, and very broad sweeping blows too close to the enemy. Very floaty, likes to take her time in avoiding and attacking, often making huge gaps in distance between herself and her opponent. Very used to the art of magic and how explosive it can be, her precautions are detrimental here. Teach her how to use every part of her weapon, and how to dodge while staying close.

fuckin' nailed it, cya later idiots

They think they are "the many", and I "the few". They think this gives them the right to walk over me.
