A message with a royal emblem of House Lavelle was delivered to the mailbox of the Pale Manor. Were a guard, being or thing capable of communicating with the delivery pigeon clumsily trying to get the letter out of the tiny cannister on her back, it would say that the letter was addressed from the Queen of Ardougne to
Grandmaster Vynriette Aren
.
Dear aunt Vynri,
Much to my own personal dismay, war has flooded our precious Gielinor once more. Zamorakian forces have been marching through the kingdoms and innocent people are being caught in the crossfire. I am not often found siding myself with or against a particular god, but looking at the nature of this aggravation caused by the Zamorakians I think action needs to be taken, even from us. I say us, because I mean both you and Tonya from Camelot. I know she seems untrustworthy but after a few meetings I think we can assume she won't come for either of our lands anytime soon.
Together, I hope to come up with a form of help to the needy of Asgarnia. Our relations may have been stale thus far but someone has to make the first gesture of kindness and understanding. Understanding that it is the Zamorakians who are in the wrong, not the Saradomists (this time). It is why I have taken the liberty of organising a small banquet, followed by a political meeting of us three to decide how, when or even if we should be involved in all this. I hope to see you both
Raktuber 20th in the palace of Ardougne.
Please, let me know if you are attending by checking the box underneath the letter.

Rosaline Haines, a queen-in-exile, to the illustrious Grandmaster of the House of Aren, Lady Vynriette and kin.
How ironic. Even as I write this letter, my thoughts stray to our previous correspondence. Let me be the first to admit how foolish I was to so readily accept the blood we share. Devil take me, for the curse is as strong as ever and fate all the more cruel for it. Painful though it may be, I must now confront reality and relate the goings-on of the court so you and the family aren't caught unawares. You should know that Sir Manfred Keenan has betrayed me, claiming my accession to the throne as treasonous. Revoking my title was only the beginning;
exsul sum.
Owing to that, I find myself never to return to the kingdom I fought so hard for, bled for...
There are no words to express how hurt I am. Even though I stood beside his order through fire and storm, his judgement came swiftly and without room for challenge or rebuttal. Left to suffer was I, alone with but a few meagre supplies in the northern wilderness. Luckily, I'm nothing if not resourceful. Vyn, I'm safe and secure in an undisclosed location beyond the reach of any agent of Asgarnia. I shall keep where a secret in the event this letter is intercepted. Kindly see that any reply of yours is dealt with the utmost discretion. There's no telling just how far his reach goes. Officially, the Lord Regent is just that. Reading between the lines will reveal the truth of the matter: this is a man driven by an insatiable lust for complete authority over the future of the realm. Vainglory will be his ultimate downfall, however, just you wait.
We must both tread carefully going forward. Asgarnia will prevail. Remember that revenge is a dish best served cold.
